Could someone help me please work this out,If I start a business
.
I have phone Hm revenue but would like a second opinion.
If my girlfriend works with me at home with my new business and she gets income support for the last 2 years + Dla + and I get cares allowance middle rate.
How much would she get for disability tax credits if I made £300? does it go up or down with earnings.
Also are there a number of hours I or she should work to get the most out of it as it will be a home business.
She would come off income support and care allowance but would still get Dla.
Thanks Shaun
Thanks Shaun

she wont get anything that i know of. as she's under 25 and has no kids she personally has to work 16 hours a week to get the tax credit. She also needs to remain in reciept of DLA and fail the "advantage at work test" which she should if she has seizures often enough.0

you've got an awful lot of posts on here about trying to get max benefits for epilepsy and i wonder if this home "business" is a way of you trying to claim both WTC and IS as you certainly didn't care about WTC til i mentioned them in your last thread?
Same advice as before, get your OH to the disability advice place at the jobcentre and see what they have to say. If you "employ" your OH you will be liable should she incur an injury at "work" and you will also have to pay her a wage and give her the relevant forms for tax every year.0 -
I think you are missing the point I have wanted to start a business for the get go, but I am trying to see what she can claim for.
There is that many ins and outs it is quick to get lost in all this DLA, Income support, Incapacity, youth incapacity, Care allowance and WTC and I probably haven't listed them all.
You try learning all them with out any help and you will be asking question just like me.
Is there something wrong with trying to get the maximum she is entitled to for here illness????
Also when I start the business as stated I will be earning a normal wage so as you probably know if you had read my posts the IS will end as we will be earning too much.
I did not know about WTC so I am very thankful  to you for pointing these out as with out IS she would have nothing except here DLA.
I am going to have a home businesses run at my pc so she will be on a chair most of the time helping with packaging and will be safe as she has been under my care for the last 4 yrs.
Thank you for your help0 -
I did learn them without help actually, there's such a thing as enabling yourself and even people who suffer from seizures can read.
I still think you should look at the implications of employing someone, you will need special insurance for starters and you'll also need to contribute to her NI premiums.
ETA there's such a thing as contriving your circumstances to claim benefits and that sounds just like what you're about to do.0 -

GlasweJen and others are trying to help you; I believe she has experience of benefits advice. Claiming benefits can be complicated but you're making it more so by ducking and diving, trying to find loopholes in the system!0 -

And she'll need to pay tax on her earnings.0 -
yes i used to be an advisor for citizens advice scotland but my knowledge is out of date by about 2 years now, i keep myself up to date by reading but i have very good knowledge of your exact situation as i'm only 22 and have a condition that affects me the same with that epilepsy would.0

still pay tax though, usually about £50 a month but hopefully i'll not hit £6030 so i'll get a rebate come April.
ETA come to think of it i think i'm overpaying national insurance as well, it just occured to me that they've been taxing me the same since summer when obviously i got my hours reduced! Got paid today so i'll check my payslip tomorrow and see how much i've actually earned this year.0
