  • Now you see I'd rather have a nice meal home with a bottle of something sparkling than some overpriced flowers or a meal out in a crowded restaurant, usually with a set menu :D

Our wedding anniversary is earlier in February so OH buys me flowers for that - I really begrudge the inflated cost of flowers for Valentines day.

I've got 2 nice sirloin steak's from Morrisons with the cupid spice on and we will have it with a nice salad and jacket potatoe. And a nice bottle of wine.
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)

I'm single & will have the flat to myself, so I usually have a long bath with my nice smellies, a scented candle on, I buy myself something nice I want and put my favourite music on. And for dinner I get a Chinese takeaway in.

ETA: I'll probably be knocking around on here as well, like every night!
Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.
  • I prefer to stay in and make something delicious we can enjoy then relax for the evening.

We are having salmon en croute with a wine and prawn sauce served with new potatoes and veggies.
Dessert is pecan roulade and a nice bottle of red wine from Ald*. Might have a coffee laced with Jamesons and cream to finish :D

Hope you all have some fun and a nice bunch of flowers ( mine will be a beautiful bunch of tulips as they are my fave)

    DC xx

Mr LW wanted us to go out to a restaurant, but as I've been very poorly of late, and didn't feel I could do a large meal justice, I've persuaded him to stay home.

He has therefore requested Quorn fillets in white wine sauce (I make the sauce myself - butter, flour, wine, herbs and seasoning) for dins. Unsure yet what I can do for dessert, but we got a couple of nice pineapples from the F&V market today; if I get him to cut them up for me, I can probably do something nice with one of those.

Champagne is already chilling in the fridge, as he bought some the other day when I got him to visit Morrisons in his lunch break for a few groceries.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

  • another one who is single here.
so nothing special for me in store.

maybe a sad meal for one and a few cans.
    ( like most nights)
    credit card bill. £0.00
    overdraft £0.00
    Help from the state £0.00
  • Mmmmm I doubt I will even get a card but nether the less I'm cooking us a tasty (fattening) meal as a treat.

I have rabbit pie mix in my slow cooker now, Whole rabbit only £3.50 :D Would be free if the OH could get his bum into gear and go shooting himself....

Having Rabbit pie with potato dauphinoise (also in oven now for long slow cooking) served with broccoli and maybe some asparagus....

And making White chocolate heart brownies with the lil sis tomorrow, prob just make a chocolate sauce to go with :)

Would prob have been cheaper getting one of the valentines deals but I love an excuse to be in the kitchen!

  • thanks for the links squeaky - some great ideas on here so thanks all!

    So far:-

Starter - breaded camembert with small salad
Main - Pheasant from farmers market for £4.50. Just need to get potatoes and veg to roast.
Desert - Thinkinh either chocolate tortes or cheese & biccies. Will look in supermarket when out later.

Wine - we got a couple of really nice bottles for Christmas - one sparkly (good excuse to use the champagne flutes we got as a wedding present!). 2 nice reds (christams & birthday pressies) and couple of whites in the fridge.

    Am looking forward to this!
