I would be grateful if you would let me know which organisation was responsible for this. We support several animal charities with monthly donations, and we would be very concerned if it was one of those. The more I see of men, the more I love dogs - Madame de Sevigne0

You can go to the Rochdale Dog Rescue website to read about it guys. I am reluctant to give names as we dont want to be held liable for anything0

From a conversation currently on the RDR forum it appears that another dog the rescue have taken may be at risk too
In the meantime, this is the "aggressive" Buttons who lost his life there last week.

Sorry, although I have been to look on the website, I just can`t see the discussion. I will have to look later. I have sent money for four days kennelling for someone. It had to be via Pay Pal, but I sent an extra £1.00 to take care of the fees.
Once again, thanks for all the wonderful work you and your colleagues do.The more I see of men, the more I love dogs - Madame de Sevigne0 -
You know what gets me......I can offer one of those dogs a home but I am not good at travelling and certainly cannot travel with my other animals to meet the dog. Its such a shame. Flavia looks gorgeous....and to be pts on my BDay too!!!! :-(((0

I found a thread where they are talking about poor Buttons but the rescue centre isnt named there either.
I can only guess at one famous place in London. How awful!!!0 -
You probably cant see it if you arent a member. We tend to keep the feedback private for some obvious reasons
If you join the forum, you can then see all the boards including feedback on the dogs which have been recently transported and then feedback smiley - which is when the dogs actually get a (hopefully) forever home.
The staffies are a real problem. Many have been used for breeding or baiting or being a macho side kick until people get fed up with them, then they get thrown into canals, tied up to trees in the countryside and so on. Its heartbreaking.
Then you see some of them get wonderful homes. One who had been in emergency boarding for ages as no rescue would take him (only cos he was a staff and they are choc o bloc) got the most fabulous home recently - a couple who have a huge house and land in the lake district - what a fantastic place for him. Though he would be just as happy in a little flat near a park no doubt as long as he was loved.
Thanks for your kind wishes, I dont do much at all. I see the dogs in photos like you do as Im hundreds of miles from the pound - volunteers are all over the country.
LT, we cant home to the public. The agreement with the pound is that we can offer the dogs a rescue place where they will be neutered, chipped and assessed and then offered for rehoming to the public. The only dogs that go to the public are those that we have had to keep in emergency boarding kennels so long that they have had all their ops and jabs and have been assessed by the boarding kennel staff over weeks, sometimes months.
You can print off posters and stuff which is what I do and stick them all over the place in pet shops and vets, but I spose most people see the name and think its too far for them to care about. I also give out fridge magnets which I had made very cheaply. If it means one person may become a volunteer and suggest ideas and so on, its worth while.
The transporters are the absolute heros, driving hundreds of miles each some weeks to move the dogs to a rescue from the pound or emergency boarding.0 -

oh, how sad - he looks wonderful - he reminds me of my first dog, a fox terrier x (who was a bit of a nipper at times, but only to strange men in overalls, fabulous with us!) - I rescued her when I was ten, in the middle of the miners strike, after she was dumped from a car with half her teeth kicked out. I had been hankering for a dog for years, so she was a dream cone true for me as a kid and she was a wonderful character.
Poor boy. Shame they didnt do a full assessment rather than trusting the word of someone who may just have realised that he was too much dog for them - terriers are a lot of work in a small package, and not for everyone!
I know I bang on about it, but how can people breed and buy whilst rescue dogs die?0 -
i have been saving stamps, have loads, and will divide them between the op charity and the one i normally send to.THANKS to everyone who posts competitions. you are all :A.0
