Hope this is allowed

Can I ask people to save old stamps please and send them off so that we can sell them for funds for the dogs in the pound near Manchester. You can look at the website on Rochdale Dog Rescue - we are a group of volunteers who co operate with a dog pound who allows us to rescue unclaimed dogs on their 7th day when they would be put to sleep. We then transport them all over the country to approved rescue kennels or pay for them to go into emergency boarding kennels if we cant find places for them immediately. Its a costly business and all funds are raised by just a small group of volunteers.

If you can save stamps and send them to the following address it will help keep dogs safe. Many thanks. If you pop them in an envelope with "For RDR" in big letters on the outside that will be great:

Appreciate that Tinks, but to be honest those big charities get a lot of donations and grants, these dogs only have us to rely on to save them.
  • Just to let you know, i've put a load of stamps in the post to you.....

    Oh brilliant cazza, many thanks

Weve had some sad news this week. 3 of the dogs we saved from death row and transported to what we thought was safety have been pts by the rescue (a well known national one) because it was felt they were unlikely to be placed :( Consequently NO more dogs will be taken to that rescue. Heart breaking.

b*gger! - did they not let you know first to see if you could find another place for them? Were they aggressive or sick?

Nope, they didnt let us know. One darling little terrier who had been placed supposedly bit his new owner and was returned to the rescue - the terrier was transported by 3 different people, taken to the vet from the pound by another person and everyone involved said he was a cutie, no trouble at all. It does make you wonder if the new owner had just changed their minds and gave aggression as an excuse. So poor boy is now gone.

The other two had chronic conditions, one with a skin problem, one with eye problem, but both manageable and the rescue were aware of that before the dogs were transported.

    Sickened by it.
  • oh, what a shame - its such a waste of all your hard work, time and money as well as being a tragedy for the dogs - I do think we as a society are unreasonable about what we expect from animals - I have to say of my dog bit me I would be wondering what was wrong, not getting rid!

Is seems rather underhand as well, not giving you a chance to search for somewhere else for them.

Could you let me know what organisation it was please (pm if you like)

    thanks, and so sorry,
