Getting ours from the shop we got my engagement ring from in the Jewellery Quarter. They quoted about £300 for a 3mm platinum band.0

we used smooch . com they come to your home and show you loads of stuff with a variety of price bands ranging from around £200 up to some serious money. no hard sell either just a friendly chat , we did end up going with them because we fount some lovely rings and the lady was sooo helpful in choosing them, even discouraged me slightly from one as it was to over the top with my engagement ring even though it cost around £400 more than the one i went with in the endnow proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0

No fair, you all seem to know what you want for your wedding ring. I can't decide between having diamonds all the way round, or just a few, or to have the ring shaped to fit around my engagement  Cannot decide whether to modify my Nan's ring or buy a brand new one. So many decisions lol
Plus my engagement ring is yellow gold, and there's not as much choice as platinum. I'm ahead of times me, yellow gold will be back in fashion one day lol
Went round to MIL2b today and she's now moaning that SIL2B shouldn't wear ballet pumps with her BM dress as she needs a bit of a heel and would look tiny compared to the others. This is despite SIL2B previously saying she is happy to wear ballet pumps as she doesn't like heels and wouldn't be comfortable. Plus, she is the same height as my sister who is also wearing the ballet pumps. The other 3 BMs are in heels, and she's complaining that she's gonna look like a short !!!!!! Anyway, I have already bought her shoes and I think I'm gonna say that if she wants different ones then she'll have to buy them herself. I'm starting to get tired of trying to please everyone else. I'm the one paying for their outfits :mad:0 -
Yes I agree you should tell her to pay for them herself if she is not happy - why didn't MIL2b and SIL2b voice their opinions at the time you buying the shoes??
You can't please everyone you are right! I am far too soft too and I need to stick to my new years resolution which is to stop caring so much about what everyone else thinks and wants and concentrate on me and OH as that is what it is all about! I don't mind people showing interest and voicing opinions or ideas but I'm not getting pushed around!!!!Finally decided to start growing up when it comes to money!:j

I think yellow gold is lovely- just didn't look right on me. I was adamant I wanted a diamond wedding band and it looked awful next to my engagement ring (platinum princess cut diamond) and detracted from the engagement ring. It also felt too chunky so have decided that the plain band looks sooooo much better. You might change your mind once you have tried some on. Do you live anywhere near the Midlands Sammy?0 -
Also, make her buy her own shoes! There is only so much you can pay for!!!:mad:0

yeh start now as you mean to you go on, once someone has taken advantage thats it!!0

Sammy, do you think we could have a list on the first post so we can see when in the month we are all getting married? x0

Thanks girls, I'm gald you think that I'm not being unreasonable
Neeny, you're absolutely spot on. I positively encourage opinions and thoughts on various parts of the wedding so that family are involved. But at the end of the day, the final decision rests on me and H2B as it's our day and we're paying for it!! I have 5 BMs, and only 1 is unhappy with the shoes (were fully aware of them before I bought them). I will go with the majority and if she doesn't like it - then buy your own shoes lol
Aimee - I do love yellow gold. I like white gold and platinum, but the colour has never suited me. I have a more "warm" complexion, and yellow gold has always suited me better. I think I just need to keep trying different styles until I find the one that suits me and engagement ring best. No I don't live near Birmingham - I'm in London, so will be making regular trips to their jewellry quarter (Hatton Garden). Last week was the first trip of many!
I'll edit my first post now to include a list of us August brides. I didn't want to detract from your list Aimee0 -
Updated first post with confirmed brides
