Calling All August 2009 Brides!!!

Hi guys
I was wondering if I could join you all. I have been lurking for a while - but we officially booked our date today - August 21st. I'm really excited but not allowed to announce it in the 'real world' until OH has got round to telling his family.
I haven't done anything yet apart from book the venue and the registrar. It all seems a bit daunting.
Am trying to figure out how much weigh I can lose between now and August (I had my son 4 months ago and haven't managed to shift an ounce since).
Will hopefully start looking at dresses over the weekend - but don't know whether I should be looking at buying something that will fit now (am about a size 18 at the mo) or buy something in the size I would like to be and just stop eating for the next six months?
Any advice greatly appreciated as you all seem to be so calm and organised.
Kind regards

Morning everyone!
I'm having Calla Lilies for my wedding flowers - got my heart set on them - and they are definitely the most expensive ones I could have chosen. Apparently they can be as little as £8 per flower up to £12 per flower depending on everything it seems!
My quotes have averaged out thus far:-
£100 Brides bouquet
£50 Bridesmaids bouquet
£5 Buttonholes
Thought you might find this useful Neeny82 and sexki11en
Hi Sarah *wave*
I'm aiming to lose a stone by August, its works out at about 1/2 a pound each week which should be possible but I have to get myself moving! The diet - sorry life style change - starts next week after a couple of birthdays this weekend. Do you have an idea of how much you'd like to lose?
If you're planning to buy a dress that needs to be ordered keep in mind it can take months to come! I think I would buy a dress that fits snugly now as a good seamstress can always take it in.Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

we thought we had the flowers organised......................we have a family friend who is doing the church and pew end flowers. thought she was doing the bouquets as well, but found out today she's not. HELP I dont mind having a go at the button holes, has anyone tried making their own bouquets. Otherwise do you think its too late to organise flowers for a bride 4 bridesmaid, and a flower girl for august 15th.0

From google/libary books that I've got it doesn't look too hard to make your own flowers.
The florists I've seen so far have all been available for my day too.Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

Hi guys
Hows todays planning going? Went and tried on my first dresses today. The day didn't turn out as planned. Tried on what I thought was my 'dream' dress - beautiful floaty simple and with medival sleeves and it looked awful - I was devistated. At the advice of the lady in the shop I tried on a strapless dress and bolero and it looked half decent (I had previously discounted strapless dresses as I have dreadful bingo wings). So I may well have to look around for strapless dresses now.
Had anyone found this whole dress buying disconcerting. Not only are there mirrors everywhere so you see EVERY lump and bump:eek: the woman from the shop came in the changing room with me :eek: . I found that most uncomfortable and to top it off I needed a darn site larger dress than I thought I did.
In an ideal world I would like to lose about 5 stone in the next 6 months - I know that this isn't really practical - but a lot of it is baby weight as my little one has just turned four months old.
Have got my meeting with the hotel wedding planner tomorrow. I don't suppose anyone has any questions that they think I should be asking?£2008 for 2008 club member 3360 -

At least we now have somewhere for the reception...we're having about 30 people to an 'afternoon tea' sort of deal and then ppl will be coming and going as they want. The hotel is going to sort me out a dj as well which is nice of them...

I can't wait to see the vicar to discuss our service. I've been to the Church Office I don't know how many times lol. I'm 99% sure that we're having the following:
First Hymn: Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_FIuAJlZUo
Second Hymn (sung once we're married so has to be a jolly one): Lord of the Dance
I couldn't find a church one of Lord of the Dance, this was the closest I got lol. Although the more I listen, the more I like this version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13eBCf1gIgc&feature=related
I think Jerusalem's a great hymn - very patriotic. I love Guide Me..I remember singing it in assembly at school!0 -
Lovely Sammy. We have got our sparkly stuff tonight- we don't like Champagne so tried a bottle of that £1.99 Rose Asti on offer at Tesco and really liked it so went back and bought 20 bottles lol.0
