At Least the new runway will create jobs!!!!

With the way things are going i think the third runway at heathrow will be a good thing as it will create jobs, I know its not enviromentally friendly but with all the jobs going in manafacturing, retail and construction this can only be good for people who have no work, due to their professions disapearing.

People still have to pay bills, so i say bring on the the third runway, and lets create some jobs for the people out of work.

What do you people think#????

I remain opposed. I am glad about job reation but would prefer jobs to have been created that improved the future, not threatened it more!

I'm opposed to it too. Why build another runway when many of the countries regional airports are not used to anywhere near their full capacity? Spend the money on improving the access and infrastucture to them instead. Jobs will still be created, but spread around the country more evenly.
It would reduce possibly reduce pollution as instead of every passenger having to drive to Heathrow, they could do a shorter journey to their local airport instead.

I'd sooner have the jobs created to build/improve an airport facility somewhere else! I live about 45 minutes away from Heathrow, and sometimes use the M3/M25/M4 network. It's a nightmare congestion-wise (and environmentally) already, and how is increasing the capacity at Heathrow is going to help?

Heathrow is in a daft place for an airport, IMHO.....

The way things are with jobs, if they can expand all airports and create jobs i wouldnt mind, people need to work, to earn money and live.

As we wont be making anything in the future as manafacturing is finished, the carbon foot print will be smaller as no big car manafacturers will be pumping out cars at there big un enviromentaly car plants.

The only way forward is to expand airports, so we can import all consumer goods and foreign manafactured goods direct into the Uk, at the cheapest price and also creating jobs so if that means having bigger runways, bring it on.

Yes, but if the only reason for the expansion to Heathrow were to import goods into the UK, this makes no sense to me at all! It would make far more sense to expand other regional airports (or the other London airports) as the imported goods would be far easier to transport on from the airport.

Heathrow expansion only makes any kind of sense as a passenger airport, surely?

you do that, but i dont think there will much difference they both sing from the same hym sheet.

Whenever Cameron gets a question about issues he avoids it, and then says we will look at it if he gets voted in.

But trust me it will be the same, ive seen it just a mp from the conservative party saying its not enviromentally friendly but i garantee if they get in at the next ellection this runway will still happen.

It's not that close to me, and I work from home so don't often have to use the motorway network, so my point is not down to the fact that it will affect me directly - it won't.

But I do listen to the local news and I know how congested the transport links are.
