Architects are doing pretty badly at the moment..Only good news is they will be one of the first to come back out of this mess once developers start seeing less of a risk paying fees for planning applications.

I think that there would be a lot less to worry about if people didn't worry about things that they are not sure why they are worrying about them but feel they should as the press/TV says they should(bad english I know but sums it up for me)

I still have the same amount of money in my pocket as I had a year ago so why should I cut back. I'm sure that a lot of people are in the same position but like lemmings many people complain about the credit crunch and how it is bad news and don't spend (i.e creating a problem)but in reality it is a fear of what might happen rather than what is happening. In that way it becomes self fulfilling

  • Banking is rubbish! Retail is too! Unless you are Poundland!

I think Ebay sales aren't bad, with the right products, as people are shopping online for bargains more.
Take Away Food - I have heard - are actually good as the people that would have gone out are getting take away instead!

Try debt collection or credit control??
    Good Luck!

I'm a copywriter and quite busy! What kind of writing do you do?

It seems retailers are ploughing money into advertising to encourage sales, so we're doing well at the moment.
  • I'm a jeweller and this is traditionally our 'dead' period anyway so I didn't have high expectations. But factor in the closure of our town centre for "essential roadworks" until EASTER (!!!) and the fact that luxuries are the first thing to go when times get tough and I'm not very optomistic.

Just hoping that enough people come in for repairs / watch batteries instead. Is there a magic spell I can do to make everyone's watches stop (mwaaa haaa haaa!)?

I work in the IT Industry (IT Engineer) and it seems pretty stable at the moment. Not alot of IT Jobs around right now, but I work for a small company and we are still very busy. The only IT jobs cuts im aware of is Barclays, but thats a bank so its no wonder.

The demand for IT support will still high during this "recession" I feel, as all businesses will still need their IT systems working.

  • I work for a Council and they are looking at cut backs, but if you look for work in a dept that has to supply a service for the public (bin men, council tax, highway dept etc) they will always be jobs available. :j

Sister a nurse and shes safe at the moment. :j

brothers a security engineer (installing CCTV etc) and he to seems safe. :j He was saying that this industry seems to survive reccessions due to, as people loss their jobs and money becomes tight, burgary and break ins to homes and commercial properties increase, :( therefore people/companies install security measures!

Some people will be buying more things that have "fell off the back of a lorry" in order not to go without or sell on!

So in a way the Police may also have more work!
