Bank error - seeking compensation

The whole point is you are saying its going to teach the bank a lesson.... no, no its not. Its just going to get the cashier reprimanded, and in the current economical climate, most probably just sacked, for making a simple typing error, which, quite frankly, everyone does every now and again.
They aren't going to change anything to their whole bank because you want to claim compensation. It will cost more for them to change their whole system than to pay you.0 -
Where on earth do you guys think banks get profits from? Us! Customers! What do you think happens when profits go down due to compensation payouts? Wait for it .... they put up charges to customers ... really? ... didn't know that ... I thought it came out of shareholders dividends and CEOs emoluments. You learn something new every day.
And you think I am talking rubbish? Oh yes, and NHS compensation payments come from the pockets of the fairies.0 -

The cashier should be shot. Their whole family should also be shot just to teach them a lesson they will never forget.0 -

We are not discussing the NHS, we are talking about an incompetent bank that caused a customer severe difficulties by their incompetence, the OP is entitled to compensation and I for one, hope that he gets a fair pay out.0 -
For once, I'm on the side of Inactive. Incompetence, and the general screwups the OP experienced, should be met with compensation. The threat of having to give compensation should be something banks, and indeed most customer facing businesses, treat as an incentive to do business properly or face repercussions.0

Perfectly stated! Incompetence and cocks up should be not the norm...if people have to put up with it, then this will BECOME the norm. Banks have been getting away with it for so long as small minority would make a fuss and write a letter. To many of us, writing a valid complaint is too much hassle. I doubt they will learn their lessons because every now and again, they will get away with it. If only millions of us protested out in the streets i wonder what would happen? PR is very important.0 -

There is also one further step that I would take and that is to resolve never to darken the door of that bank again. Just what I have done with Abbey and, of course, I lets people here and elsewhere know what I think of their total incompetance.
Where I draw the line is to join in the general clamour to demand compensation when no loss has occurred. (And it's always, not for the money, it's to ensure that "it never happens to anyone else".)
Anyway, as I appear to be a minority of one and we live in a democracy, I must be wrong so I'll leave it there.0
