I forgot about Macavity ... I love that poem! You could definitely say that was a literary name!
Macavity, Macavity, there's no one like Macavity,
There never was a Cat of such deceitfulness and suavity.
He always has an alibi, and one or two to spare:
At whatever time the deed took place - MACAVITY WASN'T THERE!
And they say that all the Cats whose wicked deeds are widely known
(I might mention Mungojerrie, I might mention Griddlebone)
Are nothing more than agents for the Cat who all the time
Just controls their operations: the Napoleon of Crime!0 -
T S Elliot and cats should provide lots of inspiration!!
I've just typed fictional bears into google and wikpedia has come up with quite a few names/options.0 -

Famous Bear:
My little brother was given a cuddly Pola Bear as a baby (I've since snitched it:D ) he's called Pipaluk after the baby born at London Zoo.
If you go down the route of literary names then you could use Dickens characters there's some wonderful names, my fave is Mr Swiveller! Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!

There's a series of older kids books about cats called Wariors - they have wonderful names like Greystripe, Tigerpaw and Fireheart, Bluestar etc.
