  • I went this morning and got the Butternut Squash Lasagne (OH is veggie), a huge bowl of salad, profiteroles and a bottle of chardonnay....there goes the diet already

There were plenty of staff hovering around the section watching what people were taking as well

Let us know how you get on Hersetta.

Well I went back to M& S and showed them a print of their web page and unsurprisingly they just changed the bottle to the Sauvingnon blanc that I wanted. Mad that I had to spend 15 mins this morning arguing about it though.

i went into the Whetstone branch yesterday and they only had the small chickens.

I still got one, seemed a bit better than the other main options.

Also to note on offers they have 2x mince for £4 and 2x chicken kievs for £4 too

DONT FORGET YOUR CARRIER BAGS, I had to buy one yestrady.

There are quite a few things on offer at the moment, but then thats the same as any supermarket. Probably worthy of a thread of its own.

Great advice on the carrier bags Lynz. The amount of people we have arguing the toss about paying for a carrier bag as if their 5/10p goes straight into our pockets. Customers seem to think we care that they have '5 bags for life in the boot of their car' and just forgot to bring one out! Honestly, just pay for a bag, carry it in your hands or leave the goods, simple! Can you tell I have had a hard day?! Dine in is always hard work though I love benefiting from the price as much as the next customer.

LOL too true. Its my own daft fault if I forget the bags, I like being charged for them it reminds me that I am being wasteful and must try harder :D mind you I did buy one of the red Xmas shopping bags for 1.20 which was reduced, and its pretty substantial. Will I remember it next time? Probably not :D

Have just got back from Merry Hill. They only had the small chickens on the promotion cabinets so took 2 medium (£8) ones from the normal poultry aisle.

Wish I'd known about this. I only got a small one!

Me and my other half have started taking it in turns to host a 2 dine for £10 dinner party with friends of ours, tomorrow night we have my friend and her husband coming over for dinner, so i have spent £20 in m&s plus about an extra £10 in sainsburys on chorizo, king prawns, lemonade and garlic bread to do a dinner party for 4 people, in 2 weeks time it will be their turn etc, i decided to do a tapas type meal as follows:

Pan fried scallops with added chorizo
    gourmet paella
    med veg
parmentier potatoes with yet more chorizo
    chorizo cooked in red wine
king prawns pan fried in olive oil and garlic
    garlic bread

    2 lots of profiteroles
got 2 bottles of red in m&s and am going to make that into sangria

£30 for dinner for 4 and we only have to pay once a month!!
    2008 WINS £5150.00
    2009 WINS £900+ so far
THIS WILL BE MINE IN 2009: ITV Cash Win, Gas Barbeque, Spa Break:beer:
  • The last time this offer was on, I went at lunchtime (about 12.30) and they only had the small chickens on the shelves (and they were really small, about £4 something i think).....but when i went back after lunch (about 2pm) they were just putting the medium ones out (i got one priced at over £7)!!! Yesterday was the same, I had finished work at 2.30pm and got there about 3, there was the bigger chickens out again!

So looks like to get the best ones you have to go when people aren't on their break from work.

This time he wanted the gammon, so no fighting for the big chickens for me :rotfl:

Maybe its just me but I was not impressed with the dine in this time. It seemed to have a Christmas theme with the roast parsnips and sage and onion stuffing.
