It's like when a misprice appears on a website, most people never order one, as they know there is easy money to be made.0 -
It's really awful to hear of everyones bad experiences on here. I was lucky myself as my local was really quiet - they didn't have loads but they had enough. I took my Nan with me and we spent £80 between us on a mix of toys and giftsets. It was for my Mum as well who was away with work.
I think the limiting idea is good although I was at a disadvantage when I went to a Lush sale which enforced a limiting rule - They limited it to 1 free gift per person. I went by myself as the bus cost £10 and took an hour to get to this shop (and I had to get up at 5am!). I was the only alone person in the queue of about 15 people, everyone else had children and partners. This meant someone who had taken a partner and 3 kids got 5 boxes and myself who only wanted two, one for myself and one for my mum was only able to have one. There was MASSES of stock, which was still there when I went back to the shop 4 hours after it had opened. I didn't want to take the p***, I wasn't a re seller and I was angry that they had done this as it stopped genuine people, the people who were most likely to sell on had already bought 'carrying and guarding' buddies in the form of partners and children so they were still able to buy all the 'stock' they needed. I think this would be the same situation if Boots did something similar.
Sorry for the rant - that day realy annoyed me!
I did a small order on .com of toys my local didn't have. One of them was half price and when I ordered, it stayed at half price even though it said 75% underneath. I know this happened to a couple of other people, so, are Boots refunding the 25% difference or just leaving it? I still love the toy and will keep it, but it would be nice0 -
I couldnt get into a store until yesterday and thought that all the decent stuff would've gone but it'd be worth a look for an odd pressie etc..i couldn't believe my eyes...rows and rows of just empty shelves, having read this i now know why
My new New years resolution is to never buy anything from Ebay that may have been sold by Boots!0 -
After reading this thread for the past couple of days...I really do feel like you are all taking this FAR too seriously!!
So what, that people are re selling goods that they have bought cheaply at Boots!!
I personally don't go sales shopping any longer (apart from online) as I really cannot stand the crowds. You don't have to be disabled or old for that either!!
Boots in my opinion are not doing anything illegal and neither are they discriminating against the disabled or the old. That is such a stupid comment to make.
In my retail experience, the disabled shoppers that could access the shops, that I came across....could quite easily look after themselves.
Boots are merely selling goods cheaply, to make way for the new stock...as fast as they possibly can.
If you are lucky to arrive at a store early enough to grab some bargains...then good for you, but don't slate the people that are obviously hard of cash enough to sell their bargain finds on Ebay or elsewhere.
They may be just greedy...but given the chance to grab early Xmas presents or the like...isn't everyone being just a tad greedy?
Lighten up folks and remember sales shopping is like life......all a game :TWhen life throws you lemons...put them in a gin and tonic !!0 -

I agree.
I woke at 7.25am on the day of the 75% off sale, and placed an order on line which, although a little slow, worked fine. I then went to the store sale that day and bought what I needed. I was there nice and early, and there were no rugby scrums or people fighting. Most civvies were unaware that the sale had started and there were only a few folks there.
I find that most people moaning didn't get up early, and went into their store late morning, by which time, word was out and all the civilians were snapping up bargains.
Last year, I only needed to get a no7 makeup set, and my local store (I was there at 9am, and again, no violent shoppers) had none (mysteriously). It was thanks to an ebayer that I managed to get it for a bit less than half price. I was happy and so was the seller.
I guess its a dog eat dog world. You have to get up early to catch the juicy worms...

Up early? I was up all night trying to win the battle with dot com. I was too bleeding tired to brave town with an 8 week old by the time the store opened:A

I used to work in Boots, and you would be amazed how many of the real bargains go to staff under the counter. It was awful putting stuff out for a pound, and being pounced on by vultures before you could get the stuff on the shelves. There must be an easier way.Been away for a while.0

Lucky you, but I was on the site at 4.30am until about 12 (not continuously, obviously!) and none of my orders went through. So it was clearly not a case of getting up early, it was pure luck.
And the main reason for people being particularly hostile against those who sell on loads of stuff is because so many of us were not able to get what we wanted, either due to .com issues or lack of stock in stores.0 -

And so the staff should get the first pickings!!
They don't get paid well, are treated badly by both the customer and by most part...the companies that they work for.
Don't begrudge them a little perk, now and again. Believe me....it doesn't happen enough!!When life throws you lemons...put them in a gin and tonic !!0 -
my order is still shown as sorted at d. spa, should it change to loaded maybe later tonight? will it still come tomorrow?
Mine is showing as having been received at my local depot now. I was sent an e-mail saying it wouldn't be with me until Wednesday but maybe it will arrive tomorrow.0
