Not for me they didn't. As soon as I selected pay by card the 20% showed in my basket so the 32" was £720 and it says the same on my order confirmation.BE NICE - IT'S FREE!0

Me too - bought the 37" tosh and it said 1200 on checkout not 1500 - so well chuffed - rang to confirm - order will be dispatched next week - just have to see if quidco comes thru for the other 5%0

ddavis response was regarding payment on account (interest free) with Freemans not if you chose yo pay by credit card.
My Quidco account showed the entry 3 days after the purchase (which was nice)Personal Responsibility - Sad but True

Hi,
I ordered a Tosh 37in LCD from Freemans on the 24th Jan with the 25% discount code. I read all of their terms and conditions before ordering and there is a section on discount codes and it only states to enter a 4 digit discount code before ordering and the min value is £40. I submitted the order with payment in full via credit card and the order was accepted at the discount price and I received a confirmation e-mail.
5 days later i sent an e-mail to customer support asking for a likely delivery date and received a response a day later stating that product was due back in stock on the 5th and I should expect delivery a couple of days after that. The return e-mail also gave me my account number and still showed my product at the discounted price. Therefore I reasonably assumed that my order had gone through successfully and that the 25% discount code was valid. I subsequently sold my old TV to make way for the new one.
I contacted customer services yesterday again by e-mail to check on delivery status and received a response that my order had been cancelled by myself and the code I had used was invalid anyway and to try ringing the 0870 number. I responded that I have only contacted freemans by e-mail and did not cancel my order. I then got a response stating that my order was cancelled because the code was not valid.
I have responded to them that I can fully appreciate that they have the right to cancel invalid codes but shouldn't this be done in a reasonable amount of time. The code was obviously valid when I ordered because the goods in my basket were immediatley reduced in price and I received a confirmation e-amil with the reduced price. My order was still valid after 6 days of ordering because I have the e-mail from them giving approx delivery dates and account number and still showing the discounted price. It was on reciet of this e-mail that I sold my old TV. I am now in a position where I do not have a TV and Freemans want to charge me higher price than I can afford to pay.
Where do you think I stand with regards to consumer rights. I am not disputing that they can cancel an order due to an invalid/ineligible discount code but I presume they must do this within a reasonable amount of time and inform me that the order has been cancelled. I would think that most people would reasonably expect that everything was OK if they received an e-mail 6 days after the initial order still confirming the original order and giving approx. delivery dates.0 -
If they charged your card and took payment then yes you have consumer rights. And even then they may ask you to provide the discount code in the format it was orginally sent out (could have been a flyer handed out in the outer hebrides for all you know).
If they didn't charge it, then no you don't.0 -

Why can't you just reorder and use the 20% discount code that's on their website still (If you don't see if you'll need to clear your cookies)
You can then use quidco for your extra 5% discount so you'll pay the same price as you did on your original order and you're going down an 'official' route instead of nicking a code off a website and using it.
If they try to worm out of that saying that you've ordered from them before then obviously highlight to them that your original order was cancelled and you are reordering as a new customer!!
Good luck (Freemans are hard work but be persistent and stick at them!!!)0 -
NickA, if you go directly to the Freemans site even with cleared cookies then the discount code is no longer there. if you go via a link from a third party i.e Pricedash the code is automatically entered in the box ( if you mean the one starting in d and ending in p) but the price does not automatically reduce with the code. It did automatically reduce when I originally ordered so I do not think that 20% is valid anyone and i suspect they do not want to give people who pay by credit crad the 20% discount immediatley.
I do not want to order at full price and then have to chase them up. At the moment I would rather they address why they can accept an order and confirm it a week later and then cancel it without informing me.0 -

I haven't got a clue whats going on but I am going to try in work tomorrow, so hopefully that well work because the 32" is a real bargin.
Aggghh! I'm in the same position as miffer! Have tried 3 different PC's, cleared cookies etc and all I see is the Valentines offer!#
Could some kind soul who can see the 20% offer please click on it and write down the code and then PM it to me?? Please?!
A huge thanks to anyone who can help :A0 -
Have spoken to Freemans (cash sales) and inforned that there are currently NO discount codes available not even 20% for first time purchases.
I am now awaiting a call from a customer services manager so i can explain my situation. The ironic thing is that I received a letter today from freemans thanking me for my order (at the discounted price) and there would be a delay in delivery due to stock shortages.
I am seriously considering taking the matter further and possibly to the small claims court because they want me to pay the full price for the TV now. a differnce of nearly £400 which I cannot afford to pay.
The 25% code was an offer in the Autum/winter cataloige and I fully understand that a code/order can be cancelled if it is invalid. What I am contesting with Freemans is that they accepted my order with the discount code and even confirmed it a week later, they had already cancelled the code so it could not be used well before this confirmation and it would have been easy to inform me then that the order was invalid. On this confirmation it can be reasonably presumed the order is OK and act upon it. This i did by selling my old TV to make way for the new one. Freemans then arbitarily canceled my order without informing me even though I have written confirmation that it was accepted.
I know may people are saying why didn't i just use the 20% code at the time of ordering. Well you can only use 1 code and normally if a code is invalid it is rejected immediatley by the website.0
