I'm surprised - I've not seen recommendations as high as 22C - I'd have thought a maximum of 20C for living rooms and 15C for bedrooms, but each to his or her own I guess.
The generally accepted recommended temperature for living rooms is 21C(try a Google) also by the Dept of Health.

We run it in pence per hour and the house costs 0.6p an hour to run when no ones using anything and the most we have had is 44p (!) an hour at which point we all ran around switching things off.
That's similar to me.
Our house costs 0.5p an hour to run when no ones using anything but when i put the dishwasher & washing machine on.........it shot up to about 50p!
Also, i found out that leaving a Dvd player & CD player on "in standby mode" costs more than if i left the Bathroom light on! :eek:0 -
Please can somebody advise me?
I bought (new, from ebay - not especially cheaply at all I now realise!) an Owl Wireless Monitor and it seems to read out useage just part of the day. Much of the time the readout for Cost, Energy and Greenhouse Gas is 0.
I think I have not set up the Tariffs correctly - and am not sure how to do it! I pay 12.59 kwh all day/all night. When you have to log in the info into the 4 Tariffs on the Monitor, do I put each tariff onto ON. What about Hours and Minutes?
It seems really strange that I am getting 0 readings when the freezer, fridge, computer, tv etc are all on.
Many thanks in advance to whoever can talk me through setting up the info accurately.0 -

I'd check first that you have the sensor clipped to your live feed at the meter, and that the monitor is receiving the signal.
Regarding the other settings they are all in the user instructions.

I also echo what Penrhyn says above, double check sensor is clipped around the "Red" meter wire correctly.
But with regards to the Tariff setting - i only set mine up on one Tariff (TAR 1). So basically, add your 12.59kwh tariff and set the other 3 Tariffs to off.
Hope that helps!0 -
I've just played with it again - hopefully it'll give me a more accurate reading. (I just need to work out how to clear all the previous readings.0

I think you push in the reset button on the back of the monitor.0 -

They don't seem to be available from B&Q on-line, this is what my site-search found: http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav/nav.jsp?isSearch=true&fh_search=owl&selected=products

Anybody else had any luck at B&Q? I have been to three - one of them a B&Q warehouse and none of them had it. At the last place I had a really helpful chap, who searched through their computer system, and couldn't find it, then he called someone else, who said that if it wasn't online, then they definitely didn't sell it.Quidco cashback paid out so far £745.89 :j0
