poodledoodledoo wrote: »I hate it when people say they have been floating around the boards for a while and have won this and that...you can bet your life it's probably only their first or second post and they have made no effort to thank the comp posters
I don't want to cause any agro with my reply to this, and this is not directed at anyone even though poodle has posted this...... but I just wanted to point out we were all new to the boards once.. and I must say it was a while before I was brave enough to register though it seems daft now, yet i entered several competitions before then. Now I'm addicted and try to post any new comps I find and am following all the tips in the comping guide, thanking posts and subscribing to threads. Whilst yes its good forum etiquette to give thanks we should all be happy for each other's wins whether we are thanked or not.
Thats my two penny worth for today anyway.
I am with many of you on the other annoying things, such as 'still not working', chat in no chat threads, post to remind people of no chat in no chat threads... we all have our bug bears...... keep smiling...and sorry if this post has narked anyone!!:p0 -
Ah yes Julie, but it one thing to post but it is quite another thing to 'thank'
I'm not bothered if folk don't want to join in any chat, heck, sometimes I can't be bothered either, but if you're going to avail of services (which the posters provide) then you may as well register and at least thank those for their effort - and once in a while maybe post a win or twoJo x2007:£5181.09 2008: £6619.70 2009: £4284.49 2010: £5213.14 2011: £4980.62 2012: £3188.52

Must be my new year grumpy feeling, but i agree with the majority of whats been said on here recently. Think i'll save some standard text so i can just paste it in my posts to save someone the time in future:D
Here's the answer just incase someone missed the obvious
Not working for me - but i only tried once
Thanks OP Entered - just want to increase my post count
I won, but cant use
I won, searched but cant find the OP to thank
Not very often i join the discussion thread or enter the Inn but this year think i'm going to be in the Inn a lotThoughts:

while Im on a grumbling spree, what about the people that enter for things they cant use and post saying I won but cant use it/dont need it etc does anyone want it. (and also often its a newbie who never heard of that jumps in for the freebie:D)
i did ask the guy to redraw but he did say i could give it to someone else
it was a difficult choice for such a fab prize but my generosity and giving something back to the community overwhelmed me and offered it on here
boy did i get an earful when i said to a people what i had won and gave it away:eek: :eek:0 -
well i offered my win on here unfortunately i couldnt make it due to work commitments

i think its fine when its due to work commitments but its when its just been entered for the sake of it like concerts etc that are in london and someone enters it from scotland and wins then says cant go as its in London - well hello, it does say that when entering:DWeight Loss - 102lb0 -
I wish that everyone wuld put whenever possible a clicky to the actual comp, rather that just the email address and subject. Many do, but recently I have entered a couple where entering from the site opens the email in a totally different format than you would give your details yourself in an email. I should add that both of those have been when someone else has 'helpfully' decided that the OP has not made it as easy as possible for entrants and has 'doctored' the method of entry for later entrants.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

its a bit like sometimes a question being so simple its simple - so the poster doesnt post the answer but someone comes along and states the answer:rolleyes:
I think that some people on here may need even simple answers. I expect there's a range of abilities on here, just like there's a range of everything else.0 -
Late to the convo about T&C's but just wanted to comment.
I'm afraid I'm guilty of adding T&C's but only for things that need planning like holidays/breaks away etc.. and even then the relevant bit (unless they're short and then it's the whole thing). I don't mean to bump for the sake of it or for little things (and I don't think I do for silly little things like dvd's..but I could be wrong!).
My reasons for T&C's bumping...
After winning a break to Edinburgh last year we wanted to know the T&C's, luckily they were posted on the OP cos when we went to the actual site that hosted the comp they had disappeared. Then when the guy who was organising the trip for us told us one thing that was wrong we could prove the T&C's said something different.
Can I ask why people who are the OP don't post the T&C's? For things like holidays etc...? Then they wouldn't be bumped to add them (well yes I know, wishful thinking, but less chance of it happening!
To be honest I find bumping annoying for silly things like 'thanks OP' or adding something which is not attributing to the comp, but there will always be bumpers and stuff that annoys you/us. It's life.
Just wanted to say that's all.Thank you to everyone who posts comps! :A

and also when people write to confirm the end date even when its correct in the op???
I admit I post a closing date if it finishes at something like 5pm not the usual midnight. Don't want anyone to miss out I guess! I shouldn't be so anal ....it's a bad habit! :rotfl:
I do admit if I can't c+p the T&C's I don't usually bother! Shame on me!
AL MAC - you are naughty ....but I like you! :rotfl::blushing:Thank you to everyone who posts comps! :A

isitenough - I have to say that I am glad when you post holiday T & C's or if any other majoy prize has the T & C's posted as like you said, sometimes the site take the comp down & bye bye T & C's.
I remember a couple of posts in particular in the I Won forum asking where they stodd as the comp prize/parameters had changed - luckily the T & C's were on here so could be referred back to & it meant those members got treated fairly by the comp organisors & got the prize they should have!
Please don't stop what you do with the important T & C's !Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0
