Sorry fnc63 but i think you'll find thats just part of comping and if thats all you get then you'll be doing well.

I clear my comping e mail "in boxes" every day and delete prob in the region of at least 50 messages similar to the ones you've had. Also empty my true spam boxes every day with 20 a day min in those. Tick 99% of boxes for no further contact but miss the odd one hidden away. If i find i have a true spam problem then i'll just change e mail address (only had to do this once in 2 years)

I always think these companies are giving away something and most want a little something in return so i'm not too worried about the odd marketing e mail or text.

Dont mean to sound harsh and please dont take it the wrong way so just comp for fun and enjoy any wins you get.

Just thought I would post a note to say I have finally received the Logitech The Dark Night comp from 31.10.08 prize.
It is pretty good too, a diNovo Edge keyboard and a V450 Nano cordless mouse.

there is also the fact that a lot of compers know or used to know they were the ones who posted certain comps, even though it doesent matter who posts comps anyway but that muddles people aswell when they are used to posting comps from certain sites then someone else comes along and posts them instead, itms:rolleyes:

It's probably been suggested before (argh.. dupe question ;)), but would it be an idea for someone to compose a list? I've been on the boards daily since July/August and still not entirely sure who posts what (apart from itv, great competitions and maybe some others that don't spring to mind right now). No-one wants to tread on anyone elses toes, after all, and I think it would be appreciated. Waddayareckon?

I agree, but think there may be trouble ahead if its adopted:rotfl: :rotfl:

We would need a referee full time:doh:

So stick to whoever spots it

    Competition Spam Already !

a newbie here - just joined the "mine for 2009" club and been entering competitions since 03/01 - for all the family

i've entered a total of 60 so far upto and including E: 09/01 and already my 3 freshly created family email addys have all received an email

Play.com Monster Sale: Save Up To 80% - It's Snow Joke!

now as i havent entered very many i have been very very careful with each one making sure to tick or untick the relevant boxes so you dont receive unsolicited email from either the organisers or third parties, but already play.com has infiltrated my inbox

i have tried searching the "competition time" incl child forum in vane to find the competition i entered so i could see if perhaps it was one where there was no way around it and i had to sign up to their newsletter as part of the entry, but i cannot find it :(

i've tried in quotes, with asterisks etc play.com or www.play.com in subject and title but i get back about a thousand results with any post thats got the word "play" in it

all i know is it was a comp that was for some kind of prize valued at over £100 whether it was a wii/ipod/laptop/holiday/bluray dvd player/home entertainment system etc etc and was between E: 03/01 & E: 09/01

can anyone remember which one it was ?
or perhaps help me with my search criteria to help narrow it down ?

    TIA
I think possibly comping is not the hobby for you if marketing emails cause such an upset - I get hundreds  Every now and then I go through a bout of unsubscribing, but mostly I don't nother.

it shouldnt really be about he posts what regularly, we have gone from been nice to he who post first wins, or thats how it seems:rolleyes:
and thats coming from me who used to post loads of comps, lol and now posts hardly any cos they are already posted:rolleyes:
just off to put little woks on the freebies board cos he is annoying me and taking faebook time up, then i should go to the bad parents thread:rotfl:
    to be updated:;)

@ Al Mac & elver man - Yeah, I guess you're right. There's no easy solution, unfortunately. But, just for the record - if I do / have done it - it's because there's no list! :D:D

    Cheers guys! ;)

When this was brought up before, Kipper said the board was way too large for any list to be feasible, which makes sense, if there was a list the comments on the threads would be beyond horrendous xxxxx
Ive took to ordering the page im comping off to when the thread was made so i can ignore the bumping etc, that works but obv u have to scan down for issues with comp xxxxx

My personal theory on the who posts what debate is that if you have been around the board for even as little as a week or so and entered the comps regularly during that time you will know which ones get posted regularly, it doesn't matter by whom, but you will get to recognise "oh that's one of catowen/NOSONDU/Elverman's" etc but if you entered it last week and the week before then you know "someone" posts it so why break your neck to try and get in first? it doesn't benefit the board at all, it would be far better to spend the time looking for something new.
That ain't working! That's the way to do it, money for nothing and TV's for free ;)

I agree, i also get hundreds - it's not actually that difficult to press the delete button on an e-mail you dont want!!
