What a relief for you, congratulations:T0

Here we go again. BG were good to their word and came today to fit the new heat exchanger. The engineers left and now we have neither hot water nor heating. We have called them and they are coming back tomorrow and in the mean time we will all be wearing 5 layers of clothes!
I was so looking forward to having a bath when I got home from work!0 -
Do you have small children, if so I would be emphasising to them the urgency to have heat and hot water. Good luck once again0

Stick it out, and then go for compensation as no hot water / no heating..
Get the engineers tomorrow to confirm no hot water / heating, get names and away you go again..

Yes we do have young kids and believe me, BG are well aware of this. I have made them aware that they are showering at the local swimming baths.
It's bl%^dy freezing tonight. We have borrowed an oil fired radiator and if needs be will all sleep in one room.
Because they have offered to fix it for free, should I now be little more forgiving if it takes a while, or should I get nasty straight away? I am fed up with spending so much time on this bl%^dy boiler!0 -
What were their reasons for not getting the job done? Try calling the area manager. The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0

They did get the job done and it was working when they left, but the engineer mentioned that the fan was now playing up and we may need to reset the boiler from time to time. He said he would return on monday to replace it if needed. An hour after he left, no water or heating. The fan has never been a problem before.
Another BG engineer called this morning, but he said he could do nothing as it does need a fan and it's not available until tomorrow. Fair enough as it's sunday. Despite now being really angry with BG, I do understand that we cannot expect miracles. But in the knowledge that the heat exchanger cost about £530ish and I don't know how much the fan is, the boiler cost about £650, would it not have been cheaper for BG to just fit a new one?
I am happy to give them one more chance to sort this out and then we really can't wait any longer for heat and hot water.0 -
If you live in lincolnshire, mainly up near brigg area we have a small calor gas fire you can borrow, inc free gas bottle.
The heater is in the cupboard, the gas bottle is propping the cover up on the rabbit hutch, and has been for the past year or so.0 -

Maybe tell them you are now going to the press, this is terrible when you have small children. When people don't pay their bills, I don't even think they can be cut off if they have small children or babies as it could be detrimental to them. Without getting angrily out of control, I think you should be getting firmer with them now. Good luck0 -
To alias_omega in particular, thank you so much for the kind offer. We are down in Wiltshire, so can't take you up on your wonderful offer.
Thankfully the weather is not too cold and as I said we have heat for our living room, so we won't freeze.
Heart felt thanks again.
If it's not fixed tomorrow, I will be calling the press.0
