British Gas Homecare Agreement, Free Boiler?

Thank for pointing out where this mythical exclusion is. I will check it when I get home tonight. I am glad to see that someone at BG knows where it is.
I have ony asked 7 people previously without success.
Anyway, as mentioned I called BG this morning and begged again to answers to my questions about can it be fixed, if so how much will it cost and does this scale exclusion exist and if so where is it? I was promised a call back with an hour. That was over 5 hours ago and I have ahd no call. However, the plot thinkens. I have had a call from my wife and a hand delivered quote was pushed through our door this afternoon, from BG to replace the heat exchanger. This was for £697! Including £170 labour. So much for charging for parts only.
We have now established that in theory it can be fixed. So should we buy the new boiler Worcester Bosch 42cdi boiler from the local guy who offers a 5 year parts and labour guaranted from Worcester Bosch, for £2100. Or, should we have the Ferroli boiler fixed?0 -
To mike-the-bike
I have never heard of a power flush until now. These were recommended as part of the service when supplying a new boiler. Would this be right?
The only mention of scale in the past was when a BG engineer did our service about 3 or 4 years ago and sold us an electronic device to prevent scale. Which obviously doesn't work.0 -
A powerflush removes sludge from the system. A scale inhibitor is supposed to prevent the limescale build up on the domestic side of the secondary heat exchanger.
They are two different things completely.0 -
Reading the BG terms and conditions it seems pretty clear to me ...but please correct me i'm wrong anyone that works for BG..
They should replace the heat exchanger FOC unless they advised you previously that you needed a power flush OR a descaling treatment to your boiler because of e.g poor quality water.
If you ignored their advice on this and didn't get it done then they are not obliged to fit a new heat exchanger..The Early bird may catch the worm ...but its the second mouse that gets all the cheese!0 -
I have had a heat exchanger replaced on my boiler by BG and have had powerflush recommended. Not sure if recommendation was before or after heat exchanger replacement.0

Right. So, in the knowledge that we have never been advised to have a power flush or any other repair regarding scale, we are entitled to the heat exchanger to be fixed free of charge?
I really am now confused.
By the way BG, still haven't contacted us.
I am going to BG again now. call 35!
Does anyone have any contact details for someone who works for BBC watchdog, or someone similar, as I am now wondering if they might be interested in helping us?0 -

I am about to call BG now to see if they can find their backside with both hands.
huh? did you have it fitted?saints1fan wrote: »Right. So, in the knowledge that we have never been advised to have a power flush or any other repair regarding scale, we are entitled to the heat exchanger to be fixed free of charge?0 -
OMG! Just called BG to be told that according to their records, my complaint and file was closed at 11.00am this morning. I am trying my best not to sware, but BG could not be a more useless bunch of idiots.
Please, please, please can someone help us?0 -
