Of course we only hear about the bad things that happen, but that's when people ask for advice. You must agree the OP has been waiting long enough for something to happen, they have been without heat and hot water and with small children, they were paying BG to avoid this very situation.
Yes i totally agree it does sound like BG were totally wrong on this occasion and thats why i offered advice to the op. What i disagree with is some bad comment's that i take personally, i dont do "rip off BG's" dirty work.0 -
I would say that a BG engineer that bothers to post advice to others on here is probably a goodun:beer:
(Assuming you carry a left handed widgit flange of course)Mine needed a new fan so that must be whats wrong with yours:D0 -

I agree with Razor but would like photographic evidence of the left handed widgit flange though
Glad the situation is resolved for the OP - I have followed this over the weeks with interest as I have just had a situation where my fire back boiler split and needed replacing with a different system. We were only without heat and hot water for two and a half weeks but it was a struggle - we did learn that 2 kettle fulls of water in a bucket was enough for a shower and hair wash - you could get away with one kettle full if it was just a body wash

Good morning: The OH always has a universal widgit flange on board useful for all sticky widget applications.:D
Hopefully, the OP will give us an update.

I work as a BG engineer and by saying that you are acuseing me of being a rip off merchant and i take offence!
Thanks for contributing top the forum and I believe you are a 'good un,
However I believe the company you work allow some extremely unethical work practices and exploit people when they are at their most vulnerable be it either through customers fear or ignorance of what they are entitled toThe Early bird may catch the worm ...but its the second mouse that gets all the cheese!0 -

I went to Twickers last year and watched them get into the record books as the only side ever to win every match for a whole season. I have the following conclusion:
In Northampton the Saints isn't a team, it's a religion!!
Ps has OP got heating yet?Mine needed a new fan so that must be whats wrong with yours:D0 -
UPDATE
The BG engineers came yesterday at about 9.00am. They did a power flush and fitten the new boiler. I am therefore delighted to confirm that we now have a warm house, so no more needs for 5 layers of clother, plus we have hot water!!!
I have had a bath and 2 showers already!
The new boiler looks great, as does the wireless thermostat thingy. They also infomed us that they were fitting a magnetic thing to help reduce scale. Does this sound right?
I am delighted with the amount this has cost in the end, as after adding up all of the hardware supplied, I think I would struggle to get all for under the £1,000 we are paying. I am grateful fot his and am tempted just to say thank you and leave it at that, but the last 3 weeks have been a bl**dy nightmare. Not least due to the fact that we had to fight to get to this stage and had I not take the advice of kind moneysavingexpert members, I may have forked out £2,500+. I will line in the bath tonight and give my next move some thought.
I offer my sincere thanks to all of you who have offered advice and also given me food for though, confidence and best of all a laugh, though this process.
Kind regards

BY the way. Southampton FC!!! Up the Saints!0
