A new Redundancy board on MSE?

I've been made redundant loads of times, but always small companies. You're told you're redundant, you leave.
I've never seen the likes of what goes on on the Jobs Board, all that doing it legally, union reps, regulations, processes, procedures.... I've never worked anywhere like that.
You're told, you leave. End of.
I didn't know all that stuff existed and I've worked for 30 years in about 30+ companies.0 -
I suppose it is to get away from unsympathetic remarks that helps justify a new board. It doesn't help when one is in trouble to have people gloating about their own comfortable position or telling you that you are a fool not to have done something or other. Actually a 'community' of people with similar problems can help no end to lift moral when one gets support and understanding. The few malign posters not actually in that position who venture there will no doubt be rounded upon as being unhelpful.
This board has some appalling posters, I remember a recent thread where the OP had been abandoned by her unfaithful husband and was struggling to pay her mortgage - a Housing Board regular turned on her for being stupid and MEWing money out of the house, then went on a general rant about MEWing in general, morons buying houses at the top of the market, house prices being too high, house prices being pushed up by BTLers, BTLers being scumbags, BTLers who MEWed to buy properties being even bigger scumbags.
Come to think of it, that is a pretty representative response to any home owners seeking assistance who are naive enough to chose to post on this board!
People daren't ask the time on the Housing/recession/misery board without being accosted with a tirade of MEW BTL HPC ranting/drivel. It's getting beyond a joke and the perpetrators should bu££er off to the HPC website where they belong.Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)

I've previously been made redundant and it came as a shock. Clear your desk out by the end of the day.
With a bit of digging I discovered everything my employer had done incorrectly and did quite well out of litigation against them (well it was settled before court).
I think it's a good idea on that principle, and to help people get back on track.
But not spending hours chatting when they could be finding a job. Im sure many of the top posters on here deserve to be redundant from their actual career unrelated to posting on MSE.0 -

You were lucky - I was escorted off the premises.
On an earlier occasion when I witnessed a big cull one of those binned played dodgems with his company car in the car park.0 -

...balanced out by HPI rampers reassuring them that they don't need jobs as their houses will be worth £x million once the market picks up again?'Never keep up with Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It's cheaper.' Quentin Crisp0 -

Can't say I've ever come across these HPI rampers. Before my time I suppose.Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)
