if you accidentally left a bone in a sandwich that you had prepared for your son would you expect compensation from yourself or maybe your son should sue you

Sorry, but I personally never chose to give my kids sandwiches made outside the house till they were of school age. At the age of three they do not know self control, will gulp down food if they are hungry without consideration for what might happen. This is why specific childrens food is made with extra care. OK, maybe the sandwich should not have had a bone in it, but maybe a cheese one in future would be more sensible. However, the only way to guarantee things will be up to your standard is to make them yourself. I did this for a long time, partly because we were broke, and partly because I slowly realised that I KNEW what went into what I made rather than guessing what other people put into it.

Were they allowed to eat at other people's houses? Or did you send them everywhere with a picnic? :rotfl:

I don't think finding a chicken bone in a chicken product counts as finding a foreign object in food when it comes to complaints. Especially if the packaging warns of this possibility.

I'm sure it must have been a very frightening experience for you, and I know I would probably have freaked out as well.

But I agree with what other people are saying, it's not the most unlikely thing in the world is it, to find a chicken bone in, well, a chicken.

If you really are outraged about it, I suggest you contact Trading Standards, or whatever they are called, Consumer rights, etc - they are the ones with the power to prosecute if goods aren't up to standards.

To be honest, that is a complete waste of time, and they will only say what is being said here.

  • my DD found a crunchy bit in a prawn snadwich that turned out to be a bit of shell, i let it go as it was a prawn shell in a prawn sandwich and i was just happy i knew what the crunchy bit was - no point in kicking up about it even though she is three. sorry but i cant see tesco taking it further although im sure it would be a different story had it not been a chicken bone.
    ;)

This is clearly a serious health and safety risk.
I think that something should be banned.
At least some very large signs and self-important people telling you not to do things.
Maybe the tax payer could fund "meat product based sandwich safety concern advisory officers" and produce a diversity action plan?
They'd need a special quango too. "Institute for promoting standards of excellence in consumer safety relations".

    Job jobbed.
    Happy chappy

    I'm with Kurjam,
Tesco should be more apologetic, the fact is her son could have choked.
If there is no warning on the packet then tesco are in the wrong.

I'm sure if it was you who had almost choked on a chicken bone you would be upset too! A 1 and a half inch bone should not be in a sandwhich

Surely common sense and not a Tesco label would tell you to check the sandwich before giving it to a three year old.
Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me
