I've done a HHI although the iron is still on stand-by as the kids are still deciding what to wear for school - it's a non-uniform day - DS wanted his Power Ranger suit on until I realised he needs help going to the toilet as it fastens at the back and is now putting a police uniform on!

Have managed to pack my gym bag this morning :j :j , so am just about making my Macaw, but the going to bed early thing really isn't working... I kept almost dropping off and then suddenly being wide awake again! For some reason it was incredibly light outside last night, which confused me - it looked overcast but I could see very clearly out of the window. This morning I realised I should have closed the blind as well as the curtain

Breakfast made & half eaten. Don't appear to be suffering too much from all yesterday's unaccustomed exercise ;) so far. Hopefully I will get myself to work on time (if I can decide what to wea) AND get to the gym tonight.

Hope you all have a good day's flying (or at work).

Soappie - hope the gutter is the answer. My brother had this at his house, when someone had cleaned the gutters and couldn't be bothered to put the end back on, so all the water was coming out there rather than going down the drain! He was in a thatched cottage at the time, so the kitchen (slate roofed) gutter was usually full of straw! If the gutter is still intact, it might be worth checking that it isn't blocked. Try to borrow a dehumidifier to dry the place out (or see whether you can get one in the sales)

Off to tidy away the breakfast stuff, and then the kitchen will look as if it has been done, even if I do still have some stuff on my list :D

Well you'll just have to do another one won't you?!! :p

I've got the 2 littlies at podiatry this afternoon so hubby is collecting from school.

I need to get through the list today as my kitchen is beastly and the rest of the house isn't much better (or is a lot worse) I have an assignment to get finished as well.. in fact 2.. one I did last night but I want to write it up a bit neater and another just needs a small amount of finishing off and the reference lists doing.

And I need a snooze... I'll go find a list..

    Hi Soappie,
It could be lots of things (obviously), but I would check the following:
    Worst case senarios:
any burst pipes around the base of the wall because of the freezing weather and sudden warm change... although because it's UP the wall, probably unlikely
Rising damp, although this would have been over weeks and you would have noticed it before.
    Probable reasons:
Check your guttering has not dropped down above that area, causing rain water to come down outside of wall instead of flowing away normally.
Guttering could also be blocked, causing an overflow down the wall.
Both of these would cause water to soak in and make it damp.
You may have a leaking window and if the rain was being blown that way, it may have come in.
Your damp course may have gone - an fairly expensive but easily repairable thing
It could also just be condensation if you've had laundry drying the steam obviousky rises into the air and condenses on the coldest parts of the house.. pull the futon off the wall about 6 inches, dry the wall and see if it happens again.. it may just be the cold air trapped behind there makes an ideal place with the cold outer wall.

Hope that helps Soappie - and I hope it is just your guttering - usually is, and that's really easy to get sorted.

We had this loads in the old hovel due to to many poeple, too much furniture and not enough air circulation

I cleaned the cooker yesterday but it wasnt perfect as I ran out of steam. I went to sainsbugs and got soda crystals and stardrops yesterday so, the removeble bits are in the bath with the soda, the other surfaces have been wiped with stardrops and I will go back in a bit to see if its helped.

The most important job today is study as my assignment is due tomorrow... agghh its soo boring and written for your average special needs frog and I cant raise any enthusiasm for it... I will do it while half listening to Jeremy Kyle I think. I want it done before lunch!!

    Happy flying :D
