The csa wont take into account my husbands first two kids because they live in Germany and he pays maintenance for them.He paid for his son but she went through csa anyway(second wife). His second ex wife went though csa and has been awarded more than she should. They havnt taken into account the two kids that live with him.My ex gets away with lying to them so his payments get reduced. They havnt got a clue what they are doing, except the fact that everyone suffers. They dont care!0

The CSA may not have a legal right to ask for new partner's income details etc, but if you refuse, even quoting the data protection act, then the CSA's response is (from my experience) OK, that means we have to put your partner on the maximum assessment as we will assume that you can afford to pay the mortgage and all bills etc (I know it sounds mad, but that is what they told me!). So I had to give in, much to my disgust, but made sure I sent a legal letter telling them they "could not store my info on computer, or release it to any other agency or person without my express permission in writing" - according to my solicitor that was the best I could do - the CSA are a law unto themselves!
Now we're still waiting for a reassessment (only 3 months now!) following redundancies, agency work & new jobs...we've kept them totally informed, sending photocopies of all payslips etc. every week......we've guessed how much they may demand and keep putting it away in a savings account, against the day that they finally get their act together, but it's very frustrating! The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"
..."Mind yer a*se on the step!"

I don’t know how successful a legal challenge would be, but it is certainly grossly unfair. Perhaps talking to an organisation like One parent family might put you in touch with others in the same position.QUOTE]
I contacted One parent family but the woman on the helpline seemed totally disinterested and said that although many people complain about this, it's not something they've focused on. I have contacted my MP but have not yet had a reply.
