I think it WAS (for the old payment of 112) because I had them for more than 104 nights a year, but now it's only 70ish so I lose that reduction. It's only the NEW scheme I think where you get a reduction for more than 52 too, but in the old scheme I don't think you do.

I would ask the CSA these questions directly (except the last probably) but I can't get through.

I'm not sure they would take into account nursery fees for a baby when your wife doesn't work

If you are on the old system which I believe is 1993 or before they should take in to account mortgage as well as pensions. But only 50 % is the max. If you have a private pension as well as a works one they are suppose to take both in to account.

You only get travel to work expenses if you travel over 150 miles a week. And how they do this I will never know but it is in a straight line. Not sure who can do that as I can't drive over famers fields and peoples back gardens. My husband was doing approx 60 miles a day and was given wait for it a whole £5 a week mileage allowance. We could have gone for a variance but it was to much hassle and he was looking to change his job anyway.

I personally think that £173 is about right for two as my husband has a new bill for one child 14 years old and it is £126 a month plus back pay and he is earing thousands below the national average wage of £25K and no tax credits either.

Thick question they are aware that you have a wife and a new child as that should bring it down. But and this is wrong they take any tax credits in to account. Which seems strange to me as you only get tax credits if you are on low wage or have children.

Getting on the new system is virtually impossible as the PWC has to request it. And why would she if she can get more on the old system.

I personal don't think you have claim for exceptional circumstances as they will say she does not have to visit her family. And that is what family holidays holidays are for. And there are plenty of cheap airlines about not sure if they fly to where you want to go though.

Also if your ex is claiming WTC she has a zero rated income so her income will not be taken in to account. The money has to be paid to the PWC and you can't pay it to the childrens bank account.

My husband does not like the fact that his ex and her husband can afford to smoke but are always saying they have no money but what you do. We have no way to know that the money is being spent on my stepson as there are 3 other children in the household. We just have to bite the bullet and put up with it.

As for your endowments, council tax etc only 50% is taken in to account not the full amount.

Also the CSA do get lots of assesements wrong. If you can understand the paper work when you get. How do you know how much it is if you have not had paperwork. As the weekly amount on the paperwork has to be X 52 then divided by 12 to account for 5 week months. So if you have X 4 then you have got it wrong. And don't forget that any back pay they have run is to be paid back a min of £25 a month.

I hope that has answered some of your question. Also find it strange you can't get through as my husband phoned they about 6.30 tonight ok as they have a totally wrong amount for back pay they claim he owes.

Any further questions then I will try and answer them.

    Yours

  • Definately phone up ad ask to be reassessed. My hubby did this when they put his amount up and after the reassessment (on the old system) his amount was reduced to lower than what is was in the first place.
I am not against paying child support but I am against it if the child does not benefit from it. Since our case his ex has actually called them off cos she finally realised (she was a temp blonde!) that she would get more for the child if we paid her directly rather than through the CSA. Dont let it rest.

    Jezbo,

Do you mean per week or per month? That is over £700 per month! I can understand your distress.

Have you considered contacting your MP? The more people campaigning about necessary change the better.

    Hex2,

I just re read that as well I thought it was per month if it is per week then definately  Note to self make sure I read key parts of the message again. That is £751 per month. Blinking heck. I will tell my husband to never moan about how much he has to pay again.

I hope you meant per month and not per week as that means you are earning a lot. Nothing wrong in that but has your wages gone up recently. As that is the only reason I can think it went up.

I was wrong about it being a reasonable amount if it is per week.

  • Sorry to sound rude but why do you need a nursery if your wife is not working, and why should the fact that she is a Czech be brought into it.

I may sound harsh but why should your first set of children lose out.

I know people on here are going to have a go at me but this is just my opinion
  • I am afraid I have to agree with June1970 on this one. By all means question the assessment, but if you take a step back, you have a new wife and new child, your wife does not work but you need a bigger house and extra car for her.

Your ex wife on the other hand works part-time, possibly on far less money than you? Your contributions subsidise for the time that she is not able to work.
Leisurely lifestyle ? - with 2 young children (considered a full-time job) and a part-time job and you not being able to take them overnight as often as in the past - me thinks not. I am sure if you ask your ex wife she would probably aspire ot a larger house and upgrade her car too.

I think the fact is that all these things do need paying for, it is a difficult situation but you cannot punish your ex-wife and children - thay are getting a rough deal too.
