    • [strike]Washing[/strike]
    • Tidy kitchen
    • Post Ebay parcels (But the weather is horrible and I don't want to leave the house!)
    • [strike]Request payment from Amazon[/strike]£27ish coming!! And have made £38 on Ebay in the last 2 days :j
    • Package and post stuff to musicmagpie, that will be another £18 :j
    • Tidy living room
    • Onepoll surveys
    • Toluna opinions
    • Play on Bingoport
    • [STRIKE]Do 3.75 hours overtime[/STRIKE] That works out at £38.40 before tax, not bad :T

    Hi dean,i agree with the others,there are plenty of ideas on the forums. Also since i have started doing NSD,it has made me realise what silly things i used to spend my money on.

    Paul,well done on working today,i bet you were freezing.

    Funnily enough, once it climbed past minus 4, I was OK so long as I kept moving. You won't be surprised to learn that the heating never goes on in my (well insulated) flat. I do wear a thick jumper indoors on the coldest days though and sometimes watch TV snuggled up under a spare duvet on the sofa. It does feel OK though as I have plenty of natural padding. I have recently started a weight loss program (a la Paul McKenna) so maybe I will feel the cold more as I lose my spare blubber.
    I would rather work in today's conditions than in 80+ degree heat (that's fahrenheit BTW. Don't know what it is in the other stuff). When the temperature hit 100 a few years back, I just gave up and went home for a cool soothing bath.
    BTW. Today was my fifth NSD of the month. Having a food stockpile helps a lot though even though I'm not eating much of it.

    Evening all,
    My dfw things for today;
    • Carried on using another sachet of moisturiser
    • Will package up 4 Ebay items sold (2 buyers)
    • Brought 4 items for 40p in Superdrugs (will cut up for beads and sequins for card making (one of these days)
    • Found 11p
    • Took gas and electric meter readings and input online (meant to do it last weekend)
    • Brought item for £1.30 to Ebay
    • Greggs – got 2 bridies (used £1.50 in Luncheon vouchers)

    • Lunch – had a few muffins that were in the house
    • Made 1 ½ cups of tea from one tea bag (twice)
    • 2 lots of washing done (30 and 50 deg) hanging indoors
    • Popped into bank again to link my account to mortgage so interest is offset
    • Got free torch from RAC in the post (given to DS)
    • Put away the 5 x £2 coins from my purse into bag (saving them up for sisters wedding cash gift) so I don’t use them
    • Paid council tax (that’s us up to date until April)
    • Will check pigsback – thanks for the reminder Lilian1977

    Sophiesmum – I’m liking your reduce reuse recycle one thing - I’ve been doing it daily which is the norm for me anyway. We already have 3 separate council bins for splitting our rubbish. I always use supermarket carrier bags to line our bins in the house. Am getting through them slowly but surely. I normally carry 1 or 2 bags for life in my handbag and a few in my car (for a big shop) but occasionally I need the odd one. DH never carries a bag with him so he ends up sometimes buying them or just getting ones from the shops home.
    I’ve always been a fan of funky socks. I’ve been wearing them before this thread. LOL :rotfl:

    Paul, well done on working today. You sound like you’re doing well! I said to my DH that I didn’t want to do a monthly shop this month and only do top ups for things we need as I want to cut back. We’ve got enough cereal/porriage in the cupboard to last us until April I reckon (unless DH takes it for his lunch at work)
    Tesco points: 101 (£21.50, £19.50, £7.50, £21 & £5)
    Boots points: £0.28
    Pigsback points: 715 (4 xBoots£10 & 1 xPizzaHut£10, 2 x £10 clothing vouchers)
    Mutual points: 3417 (redeemed 8250)

    So long as I bought eggs, milk, fruit and veg, I reckon I could manage on my stockpile until mid March. Even without those items, I do have some frozen veggie foods and could probably manage until late Feb. It would be pretty bland towards the end though.

    Hello folks,

    Can i join in?

    Last week i tried to drop my usual £100+ weekly grocery shop (family of 4).

    I got it down to £89 last Saturday, bought some store cupboard ingredients etc and planned the meals for the rest of the week.

    Today, I went shopping again to tescos (sticks in my craw to do so...but then again beggars can't be choosers) (for the clubcard points and its about a 15 min walk from home so no petrol usage) - went armed with a shopping list and only spent £45 :D

    Then went to Argos and bought 2 small Thermos flasks for work - one for tea/coffee, one for soup. That should save a bit each week.

    In the supermarket I downshifted:

    - value chicken (4 breasts, freezer bagged them in 2's)
    - value lamb mince
    - value prawns
    - supermarket brand handwash
    - own brand tinned chopped tomatoes
    - own brand long grain rice

    This evening i made a Paella for us all with 2 of the chicken breasts and the prawns. Worked out it probably cost about 80p a head.:T

    Quite proud really. Lets see if I can keep the shopping below say.....£70 a week.

    Did i see someone mention that they made a payment a day to their Credit card company?

    Good idea, did not think of that.

    Thank God for free banking!

    Evening All,

    Brrr it's freezing here - woke up to snow on the ground

    I wasn't able to post yesterday, so I will tag yesterday onto today's list.....

    Yesterday:
    * Breakfast and lunch from home
    * Worked ovetime before work
    * There was a traffic jam just outside work yesterday afternoon when I left work, so I missed my bus home. So, instead I went for a long walk and treated myself to a latt. This was actually MS as the bus fare is £5.50, but the coffee was £2.30. I got a lift home with Hubby
    * Went food shopping after work, and bought loads of basic items. There were loads of books @ £1 each. I bought a couple, but turned the corner, and noticed that one of the books was bundled in with another book, so I put the single book down and bought the twin pack
    * Requested at 2 hours holiday is paid to me
    * Was copied in on an email from my bos who is leaving to my new boss re my retention bonus ~ she wants to ensure that they don't try and wriggle out of the agreement
    * Checked the interest rate of my Barclays Reg Saver Account ~ 7.75% :j

    Today I have:
    * Put holiday money into a savings account
    * Went through Quidco for the scratchcard offer £10 tracked
    * Not gone out - kind of a NSD

    And I Will:
    * Win the lottery :rolleyes:
    * Update budget spreadsheet
    * Plan my week's food
    * Have an early night

    Think that is about it

    Hope that everyone is doing OK, and Baby Dust for those who neet it (me included).

    Take care

    Didn't get to bed til 4 due to going to casualty with my DH last night.(He's ok now). Despite that, had quite a productive day today. DH recovering in bed, DD away for the weekend at her Granny's, so me and my 3 year old Tom have mooched about decluttering the lounge - we didn't leave the house once which is very rare for me. Finally finished assembling a bargainous sideboard that I got in the Xmas Sales so transferred some of my carp into that. Now have a hall full of carp instead of a lounge full of carp.

    1) NSD
    2) 2 x 10p on scratchcards
    3) All storecupboard meals, including homemade veg soup that even Tom ate.
    4) Listed some toothbrush heads on Ebay left over from my old electric toothbrush ( Unused!)
    5) Received The Spendless Handbook that I got through the post, having bought it with my Waterstones points. Skimmed the first chapter and realised I'd already read it before from the library, the new cover confused me. Oh well, it can do no harm to reiterate what I read before.
    6) Am going to entertain myself tonight for free by catching up on Grey's Anatomy, eating Doritos from my Xmas stash and finishing the remainder of my cheap wine from the other night.
    7) Early night to catch up on my beauty sleep, I hope.

    I know I've only posted on this thread a couple of times, but already it's helping to keep me in check. e.g Earlier I had a virtual shopping basket with a load of clothes for my son aged 5-6 ( He's 3, so not particularly urgent!!) I was telling myself that they were bargains that I couldn't afford to pass up - but actually I just couldn't afford to buy them! So I didn't give in and ruin my NDS - thanks!:A
  • Well done on resisting lurlene, sure you will find some bargains for DS in next couple of years:D :D
