medical advice ???

I view medical conversations on the internet the exact same way I view medical conversations in person. They shouldn't be banned, and all views should be expressed.
Yes I agree but as someone has already pointed out, there are much more suitable sites to discuss a particular drug. Just google it and umpteen pertinent forums will come up - this is a money saving site and whilst that can and does cover a huge number of subjects I think that would be going off tangent somewhat.
There are much more suitable site to discuss many things, but MSE have threads on these such subjects.
The rules regarding medical advice are strictly adhered to even though half the time it is not advise, yet so many threads go unnoticed that are nothing whatsoever to do with Money Saving.
As I have said a couple of times....MSE posters can say to me "Youre ok eating a chicken even if it is after its use by date" but they cannot say to me, "No, dont drink alcohol when you take Prozac" because thats medical advice.
Its crazy!! The BG's are not able to read all posts.....and they are not always 'qualified' to know the difference between advice and opinion....and thats the trouble this site now faces because it has expanded far too far into subjects that are nothing to do with the core subject....Money saving.0 -

I agree, as I said earlier, the site is almost too popular. I sympathise with the BGs because they are only trying to follow difficult rules. I can't help but feel though, that by allowing certain sections like the disability forum to discuss medical matters, it appears to be as though it's OK to talk about medical matters, so long as you are (or consider yourself) disabled.0 -

I am one of the BG's on the disability and Dosh forum and like the other BGs I don't read all the threads. Therefore if you see a post you feel breaches the no medical advice rule then please report it, just as you would on any other board. We do not have different rules on D and D.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know.. Please note that Ambassadors are not moderators. Any posts you spot in breach of the Forum Rules should be reported via the report button, or by emailing forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.All views are my own and not the official line of MoneySavingExpert.0 -

Im not saying your rules are wrong.....i am saying that your rules are not the same on every board.0 -

I think you misunderstand. The reports all go through to the same people, the main forum team/abuse. We don't have different teams for different boards so if the threads are left even after reporting then it means that abuse are happy they do not breach any rules.
I'm sure with the amount of work abuse do they don't even see which board the reported post is on, they just review it and take appropriate action.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. soolin,
Is there a reason why you don't move benefits threads on the D&D board to the correct place? Genuine question - you did move them at first, but now it is pretty clear that you just ignore them.Gone ... or have I?0 -
I move any I think are directly benefit related but I'm sure I miss others. You can always ask the forum team to move threads if I'm not around. However the D and D board is designated disability and dosh so I think of it overlaps with benefits so there is no real need to move them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Then maybe you need to read this:MSE_Martin wrote: »Hi folks,
I've looked at this and am in two minds.
A. If we're talking about disabled moneysaving in respect of benefits and entitlements, then in my view it should stay in the Benefits board. As benefits is about the entire web of social services, and there are many cross over benefits with non-disabled claimants.
B. As for the other elements of disabled moneysaving. Again I tend not to favour the ghettoisation of boards as most of the topics are the same for all MoneySavers, but if the strong feedback is there are specific and deliberate issues that aren't covered elsewhere then I will look at it.
Yet my hope would be if we do have a board it wouldn't just be a duplicate of info elsewhere (ie here's a restaurant voucher etc)

I don't see where the overlap is?Gone ... or have I?0 -
The aims to be a central location for all the specific MoneySaving issues impacting those with disabilities.
Best of luck to all who sail in her.

MSE Update: Please also see the Benefits and Tax Credits board. If you have a question about Benefits you may get a better response there.
Also taken from a sticky on the D and D board and implies that users can choose to post specific questions about benefits in the benefits and tax credits board, but it doesn't say they must.
As usual though all users are able to report threads or individual posts that they feel are wrongly placed, the forum team have the final say on where the correct place is.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I'm sorry but I don't honestly know what you expect me to say
The guidelines can be interpreted differently depening on who is reading them, we prove that. Therefore it seems unlikely that either of us are entirely right or entirely wrong.
I can only make judgements on what I see, and I reiterate I do not read all the threads let alone all the posts, but when I am in doubt I tend to leave things where they are rather than just move things for the sake of it. For every one I move I get people asking why I have moved it, and I also get pms from people telling me that stuff is in the wrong place, and they can often be the same thread.
If something really really bothers somone then let the team know, likewise if I move something and people don't like it then query that as well. I can only do what I think is best but like all BGs understand that the team have the final say.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
