Hi Yall, A cold and misty day here in the emids the walk back from school was bracing to say the least. So far I've washed, dried, ironed, cleaned , 1 1/2 hrs paid2clicks done and ate my lunch early (tuna pasta salad HM of course). Once I've flitted arround the OS board I'm off to aldi. I can't believe how well I've done on the JGC and this is the last week for me:j When I've totalized my last receipt this afto I shall be on the JGC thread bragging about me big wallet;)
Happy birthday AussieLass_party_

DD is in school after spending 30 minutes this morning trying to get her to do "letter formation" and sentences. I knew she wouldn't finish it so I wrote a letter to the teacher saying (and it is the truth!) that DD just isn't interested in reading the books that are set her, she'd rather read her own and she finds letter formation boring so we're not pushing her to do it as we don't want her to go completely off homework and writing. We actually had tears this morning because she didn't want to do it! Plus we had a major mood yesterday when we asked her to read her reading books. She's quite happy to read Harry Potter with me (I read a paragraph then she reads one, I read another 2 and then she reads one, etc etc purely because otherwise it would take 2 weeks to finish a chapter!!!) but she was saying she finds the school books boring. Personally I think she's not interested as AFAIK she is the only one in class with WRITTEN homework. Changing her after-school routine tonight to try and get the homework done when she gets in - come in, have a drink (maybe a snack) and then homework at the diningtable with me and nothing else happening until she's finished, then she can go and get changed into her PJs. I'm hoping by her staying in her uniform she might carry on being in "school mode". I just hope this will all get easier as she gets older but I doubt it!!
Hi Nicki...
Just wanted to say that my son went through a stage of not wanting to do any kind of school work when he came home and I was advised to just leave it as its not worth them getting upset over it.
Not wishing to offend but your daughter is so young does it really matter if she does her homework. Sure if she wants to then thats great , but there will be so many years when she will have to that surely its no big deal now if she doesn't manage it.0 -
Happy Birthday Aussielass, hope you have a special day.
Sad to hear of the loss of your mum, that must be very hard.
Not much doing here, vaccuumed around downstairs and cleaned shower room. One batch of washing hung up and dried last night and another washed and waiting now. Just like me in fact, waiting for damp proofer to arrive, should have been here at 9.30am so hope he is okay, might ring company up in a minute.
We have problems with flooding in this house and they are coming back to redo work under guarantee. Going to strip plaster off in sitting room and chase out a gully in the utility. This means washing machine and cupboards have to come out. I am fed up with the mess and just wanted it all sorted out so we can live in a normal house!
Anyway can't do anything really until the work is done and will have to entertain myself with MSE as downstairs will be a no go zone today! Was no point in vaccuuming really, just pride and an excess of dog hair.
Ought to make a hair appointment today as I haven't had a haircut since last September. Earlier poster reminded me as does the mirror of course.
Icemaiden I hope you enjoy your pampering. It is good to feel renewed sometimes.
The guy will be here in five mins apparently so better get moving.
Good Luck with your boss Brummiebabe!0 -
whoooohhoooo, one exam left, whoooo!
todays exam, which is possibly the one ive been dreading most, was ok! first question about channel bedform and fluid flow was fiiine, and then a relatively straightforward one about channel management and stuff, so yeh, that was gooood!
one exam left! that is wednesday morning, and should be ok, its only sediment analysis, so its calculations, drawing graphs and short answers rather than essays. So, bits of revision for that, and then im done!
today....bit of revision, but not going to do loads. Nice day today, cold and clear, so will get out on my bike for a bit, probably go up the coast to see a different bit of sea.
food....not sure yet. havent got anything left in the freezer so will have to cook a load of chilli or something to fill up my shelf in there, and also so i can eat!
one exam left! gonna be a mad night up at the Union on wednesday as all us geographers will have finished then, and a house party on friday as the house will all have finished exams by then, whoo!
have a good day everyone!

Hi
Well, Im upstairs on DD's computer as carpenter is dowbstairs and is freezing, so have come upstairs. Feeling a little light headed as the glue he is using is very strong and am keeping doors upstairs shut with windows open so I dont pass out..LOL.
Washing is on airer as drizzling here. DW finished and emptied and OH has not got many jobs done as he didnt want me staying alone with chipie...apparently he looks abit "dodgy".....whatever that means..LOL. I mean...I know I look drop dead gorgeous and super sexy in my red fleece check pj's and t-shirt underneath with matching slippers...but.....LOL.
Must say, sitting in DD's room, it looks lovely and has a nice peacefulness about it...well apart from the bloody gerbils scratching and digging.
Anyway, Im gonna go as I need a sleep and may put some tv on in bed.
Will catch up later.

That's another one of us hiding out upstairs pp. Hope your carpenter does not keep you awake, nasty 'orrible drilling and stuff going on here.
Not sure the work is going to happen as we had wished so negotiations with Head Office going to have to take place. Why is nothing in this life straightforward or simple?0 -
Morning all.
I've not had a very OS morning at all, apart from one load through the WM.
I had an e.mail from someone yestersay through a family tree site, and it is someone who is definitely related to me, so i've spent the morning looking at their tree and adding bits to mine. I haven't really done much to my family tree for ages as i got a bit stuck, and it's persuaded me to get back into it again. I know it's a bit of a sad hobby, but i find it really interesting how much you can find about your past using a computer.
Aussie lass - condolences about your mum - you can't be having much fun
holstar - good luck with the last exam
curry queen - good luck with the decorating. We were just thinking the other day we might actually try to do our bedroom or the hall. We haven't got far in 18 months (new windows and doors althrough, 2 bedrooms done) but it is such an achievement to get one area looking at its best. The rest of the jobs are very expensive - we need a new bathroom and kitchen - and unfortunately it is all ours so no council help.
Have a good day everyone - i'm just going to have lunch (prawn omlette) and then take a walk to the bank and shop. Have to pick up some bits that didn't arrive with the home delivery, even though they were on the list of delivered items. I haven't had onions in the house since late last week which is hard as i usually put them in most things.0 -
Went to see my landlady and shes said she'll get someone out to look at the frontdoor - she'll phone me later to let me know whats happening. As for the carpets... since we'll probably be here until 2008 (at the earliest the way finances are looking  ) she'll go half on the cost of getting them replaced. She quotes about £2-300 for 2 bedroom and 1 stairs carpet. Me thinks some quotes will be needed
Off to the laundrette now for a break. The house is as clean as it can be without doing my "weekly clean", 1 batch of dishes is done but there was more than I thought so I need to do another one! Tea is picked out - Chicken Casserole using the alternative recipe on the packet, will do mash and carrots as well. Will pop to Co-op before picking DD up and get some cooked meat as the butchers is closed on a Monday, and maybe some crisps for the lunches (depends on the offers).
Right off to shut down the computer and empty the washing machine.Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0
