No i dont.I ask them if they feel they are paying too much and would they like to save money with all the services simplified on one bill with a UK PLC company whom have always had recomendations for the services and customer service they offer ! If they say yes i do a comparison with thier actuall bills and show them the savings, i explain that we offer a very good LONG TERM deal which 9 out of 10 want.I also explain that for each individual services it could be found cheaper but i also explain that they will need to keep checking prices and switching often to keep up.I have signed up well over 100 customers part time and all the energy customers or multi service customers have stayed with me so i think i must be doing something right.Right?
By the way do any of the other big 6 tell their customers that they could find a cheaper supplier?
Hope this helps Cardew...Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE Forum Team0 -
if you shop at Sainsburys you can save on your shopping too..
Since Choc (a uw rep) posted this misleading claim, not one uw rep has attempted to post a correction.
You cannot save on your shopping - you must actually pay in advance to use the uw card at Sainsburys, and then you pay them exactly the same as any other customer for your shopping when you get to the checkout
All you get is sometime after shopping there with the card is a discount set against your uw bill! Instead of all this, you could simply go to the cheapest utility supplier elsewhere (and get real cashback as well from all your shopping by using a cashback credit card, which would not need topping up in advance), as well as not having to join their "club" and pay additional membership fees every month, plus all ongoing charges for the "privilege" of using the uw card. (Which include a charge every time you load the card up with cash)0 -
Quentin, so someone who spends on average £150 a week at Sainsburys on groceries and petrol would be better off using a cashback credit card, would they? For more than the initial 3 months? Could you provide some proof for this claim, please? If you don't, then surely you are just guilty of what you accuse UW distributors of doing - making claims that can't be substantiated.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
The average user(in Midlands) using 20500kWh for gas and 3,300kWh for electricity will pay £264 pa more for their energy with UW as opposed to the cheapest tariff(according to Energyhelpline).
Do UW representatives routinely inform their friends and family, who they recruit to bolster their commission, of that statistic?
Says the genius who is happy to admit he pays circa £150/year more for his phone line/broadband package than he could get elsewhere. Hilarious.Call me Carmine....

But if he is an average user of gas and electric in the midlands he would still be £114 better off NOT being with UW surely?Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -

I was once told by someone at E-on to check their prices on a comparison site to prove they were the cheapest, they werent the cheapest when I checked so that was nice of them.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0

If he's so turned on by saving money and turned off by 'un-competitiveness', why not keep where he is for gas and electric and sign up for UW's BB/phone line package? MASSIVE saving on his current deal. You've disappointed me, Chris. If this was the Tesco 'let's get a £15 bottle of wine included with a £9 meal deal on a technicality' thread I think you'd have given it much more thought. Weird.Call me Carmine....

But using that arguement he would have signed up with the Post office as they are cheaper for phone and broadband?
Anyway, I'm sorry, I though this was the gas and electricity forum?Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -

I assume The Troll’s remarks were referring to myself?
I really fail to see the relevance of what I pay for Telephone/Broadband* has to do with the high prices UW charge for their gas and electricity.
I am aware that I could get my telecoms package cheaper. However from everything I have read (and the experience of a couple of friends) of these cheaper packages, they can be nothing but trouble.
So I make the conscious decision to pay extra for a service with which I am extremely content.
The point all the detractors of UW try to make is that not only are their energy prices very high, but their adverts and reps(I assume The Troll is now working for them?) go to great pains to hide the facts on their pricing from potential customers; sadly many of whom are family and friends.
If the potential UW customer is aware that he will pay hundreds of pounds more for his gas and electricity than is available with other companies, and armed with that knowledge goes ahead and joins the ‘club’, then that of course is his prerogative.
However I suspect that the vast majority of potential and existing customers of UW are unaware of how much cheaper they can get their gas and electricity.
* As a matter of interest I pay £31 a month(including VAT) to BT for:
line rental,
all geographic calls free 24/7,
xxx free texts a month,
Wireless Broadband hub with 15Gb monthly,
free comprehensive security package, - firewall etc
call minder,
caller display
a second(internet) phone line with a separate telephone number(calls to many countries abroad 1.25p/min and evening/weekend domestic calls free),
xxx(350?) minutes a month free internet access on BT Openzone for a laptop(for all my family).
The ability to interrogate BT call minder from abroad.
Freephone help line.
In addition I get the occasional discounts like reduced rental for 3 months etc.
Now perhaps The Troll is correct and I can save £150 a year(and pay approx £18 a month) for the above; I must admit I haven't investigated fully.
However accuracy has never constrained his invective.
