From subtracting the energy costs.
£136 - £92 = £44. The £92 is what EDF charges for the figures you posted (and as far as I could see UW charge £116!)0 -
phil140701 wrote: »and to add to that as long as you take out silver membership (costs about £2 a month compared to bronze £1.70ish) all calls to their customer service dept and tech support are free
Not quite correct.
You can join at any level you like (or can afford!), but to get the free calls to their cs etc. you must take the telephony service as well!
A bit much as you just wanted to take electricity!
And bronze level is £2.30/month!0 -

yes admitidly if you only took out elec or gas you would have to pay for those calls on say a bt line, but if you take the whole package, the benefits of having one bill(if you like dealing with just one company) to me are much greater than having 2 or 3 seperate onessave money, spend someone else's0 -

In that case it is a backdoor number, not intended by uw to be used by customers, and not shown on their official website at all!
Which makes it difficult to understand why your original post on the subject was so needlessly aggressive:phil140701 wrote: »WRONG they have a 0800 number for new customers, please get your facts right before you have a go at people
It would have been much more helpful to the thread if you had posted this number you found as a moneysaving tip!0 -

£107/mth on my figures, KY (take care with the switching sites as when you compare dual fuel they include the £21 club fee twice, which obviously inflates the figure somewhat.) Oh, and before I forget, can you direct me to the EDF 5% cashback card, I can't find it anywhere*

I worked out my usage for a month as shown in a previous message.
UW Gas 90p Subscription Monthly Charge £1.52 and 3.616p per kWh £19.40
Ebico 472 kWh £17.79
Difference Ebico is £1.61 cheaper
UW Electricity 90p Subscription £4.73 monthly charge Day rate 15.21p £38.84
Night rate 3.657p
British Gas first 41.66 kWh 28.403p then 10.375p Day rate £ 32.19
Night Rate 4.590p
195-41.66= 153.34 x 10.375= £15.91
41.66 x 28.403 = £11.83
97 x 4.590 = £4.45
Difference British Gas is £6.64 cheaper
£6.64 + 1.61 = £8.25 Total cheaper.
Cashback off my utilities by using the Debit Card is £12.59 That minus £8.25 deficit = £4.65 better off with UW.
This of course does not take into account the fact that I have six services from UW and that would reduce the Subscription for these two a little. I also took off (from £13.59) £1 for the monthly card fee (there is a one off £10 set up fee too), although there is then no fee for the first six months. All spending happened to be in Sainsbury where I do most of my grocery shopping. I do also occasionally shop in Boots and Argos. When I want fuel, I wait until I am going to spend £50 in Sainsbury and then fill up getting 5% off the cost of my diesel. I can manage this because I walk to work and only generally use the car for longer journeys.
I am happy that I have a reasonable deal on my landlines, broadband and my wife's old mobile phone. Nitpickers will pick on the card's £10 set up fee but I am not concerned because I will still be well ahead over the course of time. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

One of the biggest advantages is also that you don't have to deal with British Gas - especially online (the tariff Hugh Jeego quotes is an online tariff WITH EXIT FEES that he chose not to mention, lol). Their site rarely works, their staff know less than
and their customer service is atrocious.
PS Your BB/phone deal is also far cheaper than BTs. By a large margin.Call me Carmine....

For the last few years I have used Ebico for both services, however their electricity tariff became uncompetitive being about £70 dearer for me than BG Click Energy 6.
With some trepidation I decided to move back to BG.
I must confess I was pleasantly surprised with the service.
The call centre at Cardiff handled the application efficiently, and I got regular updates via text message and the post. I had an issue regarding the final meter reading which was resolved with one email and a follow up phone call from BG.
The website is up to date with both my electricity and service accounts.
BTW Never had any problem with SE(Ebico) customer service, just the cost.
I did check out UW as its being promoted by my (GEC) pension provider, but for dual fuel for me, a low user (2000KwH electricity, 8500KwH gas), according to Energy Helpline would be around 25% more expensive. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
