As your on the £4.85 BT plan you could reduce your bills even further if you make daytime mobile calls by pointing an 0870 number at the mobile target number, and call it free from your inclusive minutes 8 a.m. - 6 p.m., Monday-Friday

Thanks but not worth the hassle for us. 18185 only bill us every other month and even then it's only £2 max.0 -
Hello again.
I've now received my latest onetel/talktalk bill for the last 3 months.
It's total is £53.67p which also includes a non direct debit £1.50. I DON'T WANT DIRECT DEBIT. BT charge £5 for this.
The 'everycall choice 3 plus' charge is £47.97.
All the local and national calls are free.
There is 133 'other calls' charged £4.26p.
Now here is the question. Of these 'other calls' , 22 are 0845/0870 numbers.
1 or 2 are 0844. Therefore there are approx. 110 mobile calls using around 130mins. in total.
So if I changed to BT would 130mins on mobile calls work out cheaper than 0845/0870?
Also on this bill the mobile calls are free because we haven't exceeded our plan.
The total allowance is 180mins. and we used 105mins.
As I've previously said I don't trust BT and am always suspicious of them, can you confirm as well this plan doesn't have any 'small print' that say this special offer is only for 3months then it will go up? Also if I changed, if it is a 12month contract and the bill is not as cheap as I'd been expecting, can I cancel and go back to onetel?
I really do appreciate the advice and look forward to hearing from you all...
Thanks from Heather0 -
Just to clarify that the £4.26p'other calls' on this bill relate only to the 0845/0870 numbers called. The rest are mobile which on this occasion are free.0

Have you actually used this website successfully and discovered that no charge was made to your BT bill?
Secondly, why does their website look so amateurish? Is it new and in its infancy?0 -

I have spoken to BT since I last wrote and they tell me there is the option of £4.85p per month for 12month contract or £5.82p per month no contract. However with mobile calls, although the price per minute might be less, they charge 8p for EACH CALL set up. I would assume that would also happen if you went into voicemail? As I've already said I don't trust them, and reading their leaflet that from 1st April, they are putting some charges up, I would imagine to compensate for what they lose with a cheaper plan?
So although I am charged for my 0845/0870 calls with Onetel, it might be just as well to stay with them as I don't think there will be much of a saving to justify changing. Also if enough people left to go to BT, perhaps Onetel may also change. Bear in mind as well that 0871/0844 are chargeable numbers. How many people would assume they would also be included free?

OneTel is now part of Carphone Warehouse (Talk Talk).
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=19318867&postcount=431Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
