[BT] Unlimited Anytime Plan - Is this good value?

Your problem is the weekday daytime calls requirement.
Ignoring the 0845/0870 calls aspect for the moment, with calls of unlimited duration to UK 01, 02 and 03 numbers being available for 5p each at any time from 1899, 18185 or 18866, the initial decision is easy. If you make 100 weekday daytime UK 01/02/03 calls each month, you gain by having an inclusive calls plan which costs less than £5. If you make less than 100, switch to an evenings and weekends calls package which has no monthly subscription fee.
Then factor in the 0845/0870 calls element (the ones for which SayNoTo0870.com can't help) and you can decide whether BT's £4.95/month Unlimited Anytime Plan meets your needs.
BTW, Talk Talk won't match the BT 0845/0870 free calls offer.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
check your onetel a/c i was on free landlines years ( 7 ?) ago 1tel cps @ no cost, massive savings ! when I moved they would not let me keep the discontinued package when transfering to my new BT landline, so I closed the account
do not give up this package if your on it ! 1280 calls through BT like 0845/0870 @ weekendsSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -
Thanks Heinz. I do use 1571, don't have a 'caller display unit' - not really bothered - but I am going to look for my onetel-talktalk bill and possibly ask them if they will match it. The majority of my calls are daytime, hardly ever in the evening, and I look on the 'say no to 0870 site' for an alternative number. All calls that are 01/02 are free at the moment and there is some discount for mobile calls.
So what do you suggest now?
If your calls are cps to Talk Talk ( Ex OneTel) they usually charge for the inclusive bundle,so the calls are not free.0 -
I'm back again. Have found Aug.08 bill which I think was a bit lower, can't find last one which was Nov. 08.
Anyway the plan is called 'everycall choice 3 plus'. The charge per quarter is £47.97p plus vat. The 01/02 calls are free 24/7. On this bill we made 475 local calls, 103 national calls all free.
There were 182 'other calls' which are 0845/0870 and charged £9.34p., the mobile calls allowance in 'other calls' were free so we hadn't exceeded that. Only charged for the 0845/0870 calls.
So now what do I do?
Now Heinz, please tell me what "un-CPS'd" mean?
Also jhp, what do you mean where you say 'are cps to TalkTalk (ex onetel) they usually charge for the inclusive bundle so the calls are not free'.?
Any advice greatly appreciated, do I keep or change to BT?0 -

I beleive that you would be better off with BT. I have the Unlimited Anytme plan and it costs me £15.09 per month as i have direct debit and ebilling. The discount is saving on average £44.76 per annum off there normal prices. With the Unlimited Anytime Plan you receive anytime calls to 01,02,03 & now 0845/0870 for up to an hour per call.15 Friends and family numbers saving 10% off 15 most called numbers within the quarter & it saves me 40% off mobile phone calls. All this for a measly £15.09! one thing left to say is if you want value for money then you should be with BT!!!:j
**oh and to answer your question CPS is your line staying with BT & your calls being routed to some other company such as TalkTalk so you still pay BT for the line rental, but to be honest it means getting two bills for your phone by 2 different companies which i would hate, on bill is bad enough :-)BT is my speciality :rotfl:
The master of all BT knowledge :rotfl:0 -
I just want to confirm that the bill does say 'talk talk' but it's not really cos they took over the one-tel accounts and because of this wont give me nectar points, the inclusive minutes allowance is 180mins. and 164 mins used.
please advise thanks.0 -

How can the calls be Free when your paying £191.88 a year for them ?
The BT 24/7 inclusive call bundle would only cost you approx £59 a year it would include 0845/0870 but not mobile calls.0 -
Looking at it like that it does look like we're paying a lot more than I thought. But I am assuming that if I had to pay x-amount PER CALL, it would work out a lot more? I assumed the call package I have takes this into account and allows unlimited calls 24/7 as free evening/weekends alone for us is pointless. Most of our calls are daytime 01,02,03.?????0

So the BT 24/7 inclusive call package would be cheaper if you dont make lots of mobile calls.0 -

Calls to 0870/0845 are not free if you use an indirect access code to dial the number. Only free to direct dial calls.* INFORMER *Life is too short for serial complainers. Got a problem?
