Can I ask some of you New York travellers who you got your travel insurance from. Ta

    I used 'travel insurance web'.

It was £12.85 for 6 days. I went through 'Quidco' and got £2.57 (20%) back in cashback, so just over £10 in the end.

Used Insure & Go for a worldwide annual policy for 2 people - £65. worth it if you are planning a few trips although the previous post seems v.good value.

We already had a European annual policy in place, but I was surprised how little it cost to add 10 days in the USA, especially given that I have to declare about 7 minor medical conditions for DH ...

We've just taken out a new annual policy with GetMy, and I was astonished at how cheap it was. Half the price of any of the others. But bear in mind what I said about having to declare a load of stuff for DH, I can never just compare online.

    Hi,

Need advice from people who have visited NY with a kid.

I am going next week and was trying to book a shuttle service from JFK to Manhattan and then found they don't take kids without appropriate child restraint seats. (My daughter is 3 yrs old).

I am worried now because I've booked a coach tour as well now from NY to Washington DC.....

    Can somebody guide me?

Hi, I've seen this with some car services too, so I'm using dial 7 car service to get to our hotel instead. They allow kids to sit on laps instead of a car seat. You may well find the tour service will be fine as not ALL services are like this.If it's supershuttle you were going to book,do not book them-they are truly awfull!!! I'd contact the tour company and see what they say .

costingbunny... nice report... but did you know that heartland is a chain pub like a wetherspoons and aimed directly at tourists. (IMO)... much better choice if you know where to find them so you'll have to nip back and check out different bars.. :)

as for the plane on the way back, looks like you had an equip change, as delta always only fly a 757, which is what you had on the way out....

Thanks for that. I read reviews about Supershuttle on tripadvisor and decided not to go with them. I will be taking a taxi. I've read the rules related to child passenger on some US website - It states if the taxi/coach does not have adequate child restraint seats, they are allowed to sit in the lap.
  • Hiya, I know Heartlands is a chain (only 3 in the city though I think) but I just mentioned it in case anyone comes across one and fancied a few ales as it brews its own ales which is something I like to try. They had around 5 on regular and 5 on special which is plenty to get stuck into!! Agree Marky that there are loads of other bars which are more interesting and more New York, just a pointer for folk.
