Hi - my first post on this forum - didn't even know it was here! I will be settling down in awhile and reading everything from start to finish. I am going to NY in May for the first time ever - I am so excited!:j:j I will be travelling on my own and meeting my cousins over there. They have booked an apartment close to Times Square in someplace called the Theatre districts. They are flying in from Canada and will be going to LaGuardia airport. I have been trying to find a flight to that airport so we can meet up together (we are all retired and a little nervous about our big adventure:o) but everthing seems to be going to John Kennedy airport.
Does anyone know if I can fly into La Guardia airport from London? Thanks in advance! ps - a cheap flight would be good:o!

Hiya
Searched the thread but cannot see anything useful so hope someone can help. In NYC on 4 April and want to go see NY Knicks game at Madison Square Gardens. Has anyone been to see a basketbal game there - the seating plan looks massive - if we got a seat on one of the upper levels would I actually see anythin???Is it worth going to game - any advice welcome!

Hi and welcome to this section of MSE.
Alas La Guardia is only used by internal/domestic flights ie U.S and canada so you wont be able to fly into la guardia, your only options are newark or JFK, personally if I was you I would fly into JFK and jump into a cab and get to your hotel and your family can meet you there, simples!!!
Anything please just ask.
Mr BLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -

I've flown to LGA quite a few times, and the only way you'll get there is if you change in the US, and the most probable airline would be US Airways. You'll fly to Philadelphia first, go through immigration, collect bags, go through customs, drop off bags, get on bus to terminal F (you land in A) and then get on a small plane for a hop up to NYC.
Most flights via PHL, get you into LGA for about 5pm, so this might not be the most convenient0 -

Hi, i went see the Knicks quite a few years ago, and had end courtside seating. I've been to the hockey, up on the 2nd level, and saw plenty, however a hockey rink is bigger than a basketball court.
Cheap tickets, good atmosphere, personally i don't think you can go wrong for a night out!0 -

Thanks for that, looks a little complicated for me (I am already scared stiff going on my own!), I think I will take the easier option and fly direct to JFK then get a taxi to the apartment.
Thank you for your suggestions though.

yeah, it isn't the easiest thing to do, I only went that way when i did, as it was the cheapest.
use sites like kayak.co.uk to find a good deal on flights! and let us know before you book, incase we can find anything cheaper for you!0
