DS2 couldn't find his swimming trunks which I KNEW I'd packed. This was post NY, and in Wildwood, where he wanted them for the beach. He bought a new pair, and then when I was going through everyone's cases, working out the best place to pack the neck of a guitar (best not to ask), I found them. Obviously I'd stuffed his 'spare' shoes full of underwear, including his trunks. :rotfl:
Signature removed for peace of mind
  • I wish I could leave it but I get so anal about packing that I have to do it way before to be 'organised'.

HAHAHA to LeedsB, relax plenty of time to pack - do the small bag of important stuff (passport etc) first and then do the clothes - that way you can stop stressing about it - the stuff that matters is done everything else is a caspulse wardrobe :D

I took such a small case I got told off for checking it in - duh I have contact lense fluid in there and its too many mls to take on as hand luggage...

It also meant I couldnt buy anything which was handy :D

Does anyone know where I can order a small birthday cake (only 3 of us going) for a trip to NY in April, it's my friends 40th whilst we're there so I want to do something. We're staying Times Square area. Many thanks

If you want something traditional then try here http://www.ferraracafe.com/index.php they are one of the oldest family run Italian Bakeries in Manhattan (and their cannoli are delicious)
If they are Sex In The City fans then here http://www.magnoliacupcakes.com/ but personally I think their stuff is a bit over-rated and over-priced

There are some great bakeries and patisseries along Bleeker street and most have 6 inch cakes available all the time

What about one of the cupcake places?? Or there are plenty of bakery type places around that I'm sure will do a cake...

This one has a website, but its not the one I'm thinking of (sorry cant remember the name):
    http://www.cupcakecafe-nyc.com/

Ahhh this might be the one, but its a bit further away:
    http://www.sweetrevengenyc.com/

    Hope that helps!

Edit: cross post - Floyd's found the famous cupcake one! But Sweet Revenge looks pretty tasty to me :D

    Hey,

I'm going to NY for a week on 24th Jan. Was wondering if anyone can tell me what items in Macy's you can use your discount card with? I'm guessing that you can't use it when buying make up or perfume?

Also, a really random question but i'm just asking in case for some reason someone remembers this. My friend collects russian dolls and would love one back from NY, has anyone seen one on their travels?

    Thanks everyone.

it tells you on the back of the card.. but it does exclude all your cosmetics, and some other bits and bobs too..

general clothes, shoes etc are all included..

    russian dolls.. sorry, no clue

That's great, thanks for the reply.

Didn't think anyone would know about the russian dolls but it was on the off chance someone randomly came across them :D
