Has anyone ever been on one of these tours: http://www.gabby.com/tour.htm
Looks like a great way to really see the sights of NYC. No idea on the price though!0 -
depends what you want out of a tour.. it seems like it is an all day thing.. personally, i'd go for a big apple greeter (link on page 1), as they can really tailor things to what you want, rather than, just give you a whole tour, for a whole day, which would be A LOT to take in..

Not heard of them, but we did the New York see it all tour with NY Party shuttle http://www.newyorkpartyshuttle.com/ and they were fab, saw lots and wasn't like the typical shuttle buses you have going around times square.0 -
I'm flying out in a week for my 30th birthday! Seems like it's the thing to do when you hit the big 3-0.0

Hi I've just booked for NYC for my friends 40th birthday booked through expedia, flight from Man to LHR to JFK staying 5 nights @ The Newyorker opposite Maddison Square Gardens flying with Virgin Atlantic going 13th feb total £677. Would have been a great price however just noticed my prepaid creditcard transactions and Virgin have charged me twice for my flights so ive got a minus showing at the moment didnt get anywhere on the phone so letter of complaint on the way!0

Its okay Mark - I'm off for my 27th in April now (the day after I finish my first marathon too) so I must be mad as well!
I would have done the free greeter thing too if I hadnt been staying with my friend - in fact I'll do it in April I think - I want a proper in depth look at the Cloisters so hopefully can get someone to do that with me
The link for others is here:

Thats still about £140 quid
I would knock the ladys drink in the head straight away
Packet of opal fruits and a glass of watter job done
Surely you mean Starburst ;-)
I thought she deserved a treat after 25 years of washing my underwear but just the one drink mind.
The food was worth every penny and the maitre d excellent especially recommending a reasonable beer - I went for local Brooklyn beer which was good for the US.
I liked Heartland Breweries Old Red Nose best though at South St Seaport.0 -
Hi
Off to NYC in April to celebrate an anniversary. Been a couple of times before so OK on where everything is and have booked flights and hotel already. Just wanted any advice on what to do on the anniversary. Looked at going to Madison Sq Garden in the afternoon to see a basketball game but the tickets are extorniate!! Is it worth it or does anyone know where to get cheaper tickets (website shows a ticket at around $220 for a seat two floors up!). For the evening we fancy going to see a live band and in the past have gone to bars in Hells Kitchen to see stuff advertised in the Village Voice - we like blues, jazz, bluegrass etc and would be more comfortabel being scruffs. Anyone feel free to recommend a bar - would ideally like to explore Greenwich this time. In the past we have done the major pricey tourist stuff (Marriott hotel bar, Rainbow room etc).
However, i am intrigued by PDT bar - anyone been - is it possible to get in - is it worth it???
Sorry for so many questions - all responses welcome!0 -
Hey,
I'm going to NY for a week on 24th Jan. Was wondering if anyone can tell me what items in Macy's you can use your discount card with? I'm guessing that you can't use it when buying make up or perfume?
Also, a really random question but i'm just asking in case for some reason someone remembers this. My friend collects russian dolls and would love one back from NY, has anyone seen one on their travels?
Thanks everyone.0
