Heres a link for some of the most popular midtown hotels:
    http://www.newyorkcitytravels.com/maps/nyc-midtown-hotels-map.html

If you want to see the distance from any hotels to say times sqaure, if you go onto google map and type in the two addresses they will give you directions and how long it will take to walk. This was a god send to me on my last trip when i wanted to go to non tourist shops/places so I printed off the directions before hand and followed them when i was there.

I am the BIGGEST sex and the city fan ever, however I have never done the tour. I have heared its good heres the link off the HBO website i'd go with this one as its come direct from HBO:
    http://www.screentours.com/tour.php/satc/

My resasons for never doing it is that its 3 1/2 hours long and I have just never had the spare time in my itenerary to do it plus I think alot of the places you can go to yourself without paying $44 for someone to show you. The amount of places you stumble across and recognise is unbelieveable.
For example New york public Libary- from the movie and also breakfast at tiffany along with many other movies its such a beautiful building which you will probably go into anyway, Magnolia Bakery- theres one midtown now right near Radio City no need to go to soho to see it although I have seen soho one too, cupcakes are just as good in either. Jimmy Choo, Dior, Tiffany etc All in midtown you will go past them. Staten Island Ferry- "Where there's smoke" the girls went on it when carrie was judging the fireman calendar contest.
Then theres wall street which was the first episode back after carrie had her baby and shes running to open the stock exchange, when in wall street you can see the subway she got off at and the NY stock exchange.

Soo many places so if you dont have time you will get to see many places on your own.

Edit: Ohh also theres a HBO shop too right near the new york public libary which sells all sex and the city & other HBO programs merchandise.
New York ♥..........These street will make you feel brand new, Big lights will inspire you.
No place in the world that can compare ♥ 2nd October 2010 ♥

Looking at the photos I actually think this candlewood suites shares the location with the Confort Inn I was talking about that caused all the commotion over at Tripadvisor last year because of the ever changing opening day. (I think the 3rd hotel adjacent is the hampton inn.) http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/cw/1/en/hotel/nyccw So it is very new.

Have you checked the prices for this for an equivalent suite for those days? How do they compare with what you paid? What about the crowne plaza you have your eyes on? I don't know the brand, but perhaps you could try for them to throw in free breakfast for everyone or give you a refund of part of the cost.

Good luck on this - I think I am like you and choose a hotel for a number of reasons, whihc makes finding a suitable replacement (in my eyes at least) hard.

And keep us posted. At least I would like to know the outcome of this and how companies behave when it is clearly their fault.

I think you probably have to work out how many of the discounts in the NYP you will actually use, and unless it's a long stay you're going for you'll need to work out a timetable and itinerary. You want to enjoy the trip, not feel exhausted because you're rushing from one thing to another trying to cram it all in.
Signature removed for peace of mind
  • We visited for 9 days and used the NY Pass for 7 days. We used it for:

    Statue of Liberty
    Empire State
    TOTR
    NYC Police Museum
    Intrepid
Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame
    Central Park Zoo
    Madame Tussauds
    NY Aquariam

Also got $10 dollars (for each pass) food credit at Planet Hollywood and OH got free bag from Bloomingdales.

The guidebook that comes with it is really helpfull as well. We only visited certain places (like Empire State Building) because we had the pass.

I used a bus shuttle one time and, whilst it was cheaper than a cab, it took ages as it drops folk off all around NYC and it depends where your hotel is - it took so long, we hopped off a block away and walked it. Now always get a cab - not the cheapest option but quicker and you get a good view of NY as you come into the city - nice for a first visit.

With your flights you will have free in flight meals, drinks and entertainment so no pre-booking anything. Enjoy.
  • Thanks CB,thats good to know,we wont arrive until 8pm,so time is preciouse,a cab it is then, cheers.
