SI ferry: our suggestion is to stay at the back of the ferry each way, while everyone else heads for the front. You get the skyline on the way to SI, and the statue on the way back, and no crowds.

Also we did the trip twice, once in the day and once late at night, just for the ride.

Never thought to do it at evening!! Great tip for next time! Did you find the terminal in SI at all scary at night?

We've done the statent island ferry in the daytime and night time and personally I prefer night time, the statue looks more stunning lit up, and the ferry tends to be a tad quiete, and neither terminal was scary, mind you im a tuff guy and dont scare easily, however there was no obvious threat

No. There were 5 of us, and I honestly never felt worried at all, the whole time we were in the USA. But then we live in a city and work in one of the least salubrious parts of it, so we're all used to the 'mean streets'.

The boys (16-21) cycled round Central Park on their own, and were later roaming the streets of Wildwood on their own at all hours.

Mind you a colleague is not long back, and accidentally saw in the NY on the SI ferry, which they did NOT enjoy! :rotfl:

The View is also available for just drinks - quite expensive but worth it for the experience!

(I'm sad and have been in there on each of the 5 times I've visited NYC!)

Don't trust everything you read on Tripadvisor - we ate there and it was brilliant!
