Twinkler sounds like you have been very stressed indeed. Really hope that Delta will refund these costs back to you.
Totally agree with Greenface, forget it all now and enjoy your holiday. Although back into man at least your going and your going to have the most amazing time.
You said not sure if you will ever get there and now you are so enjoy every minute of your trip and christmas, only think about it again (if you can) when you get a responce from Delta.

Cant wait to hear all about your trip on your return, I really cant think of a better place id like to be at new year :T

Just got a response from Delta.

They offered me an apologee and a Delta Voucher to the value of...$100

You should never accept the first offer from anyone - not that I think you will be considering this one!

I think through their own atol or abta rules the have 28 days from receipt of the letter/email to respond you have lost a few days holiday also aswell as almost a grand in money (which is your spending money so partly your holiday has been ruined)

I simply refused to accept $100 as compensation.

Expressed my disapointment and requested full compensation of our out of pocket expenses & a free upgrade for our flight next week.

Had a reply declining this. Then had an email from Deltas executive assistant offering another $100 to go towards another future Delta flight...Not Happy!

Just about to respond...cant say that this is how i would like to spend my Christmas Eve.

dont underestimate any compensaton claim you may be doing yourself out of potential $£$£.
Because they have let you badly down i would expect a upgrade (dont ask for a free one)If they dont upgrade you i would expect to be compensated for not upgrading you.Can you see where im coming from?
