Just want to say I MISS NEW YORK - can't believe I've been back 2 weeks. I have even downloaded "Native New Yorker" and am playing it very loudly. Think its being back in the UK for Christmas after seeing how NY does Chrimbo - anything else has to be an anti-climax.0

Thank you all for your kind words.
Things have moved on everso slightly since i wrote my initial post.
I was unable to find a hotel for the 30th (as have spent most of my money now and my budget was tiny - plus it was over new year so everything very overprised) so i changed our flights to leave on 29th - 2nd. I called Delta to confirm our flights and was informed that they had only moved mine and not my husbands. There were no more flights for him to join me on the 29th!
They then offered to put him in first class on same flight as mine as they admitted messing up but they refused to seat us both there. As i had been booked on the flight as coach i couldnt be moved...things didnt get much better after that also.
We refused to accept it as im terrified of flying and we wanted to sit together, they offered us a flight on the 29th from Heathrow to NYC and returning on 2nd Jan from JFK to Manchester! (4 hours away from where i live)
We have accepted these flights as we desperatly want to go whilst hubbie off work plus our parents have offered to watch our 3 children whilst we go away together.
I know need to put an email together for DELTA now requesting some kind of compensation - we lost our origional hotel and have had to pay an extra £800 for a hotel that i didnt particulally want to go.
We have kept our reciepts to claim back.
I so fed up - not sure if we will ever get there?0 -
Oh Greenface, don't get me started. Fairytale of NY ("You scumbag, you faggot, you cheap lousy maggot") so much more reflective of Chrimbo in our house compared to those peace and goodwill to all lark.0

All, I'm sure there will be a thread somewhere else on the forums advising that the BA sale starts tomorrow but thought I'd post something here anyway. Even though the sale officially starts tomorrow the sale fares are online now.
I just looked at some random dates for April and could get returns from Heathrow for less than £300...0 -
twinkler you have a little time now to write down all the facts and conversations youve had
Then forget about it all and have a great break in NYC dont let them spoil it dont even think about it enjoy your experience NYC at NYE cant think of a better place to be
Once to return you do what you feel right but please dont get fobbed off with a little cheque and a shallow sorry .
Enjoy NEW YORK CITY:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0 -
Thanks Greenface.
Well, i managed to write a letter last night stating all conversations and actions taken etc over the weekend.
Ive emailed it over to Delta's complaint dept this morning (was advised will take 6-8 weeks to get response!)
Im hoping some thing will be done to compensate the expense its caused me. We resrranged our flights (after a lot of argueeing) but most hotels were fully booked over the New Year so the new hotel alone has cost an extra £800, and its not even the hotel i wanted! (is very nice though - Sofitel, New York)
I calculated with transfers, parking, hotel costs and drinks that ive had to pay for, im out of pocket by £940, not counting the stress of it all.
Our new flights are from two different airports too. We fly from Heathrow to JFK and then return JFK to Manchester. Both flights to and from Heathrow were available but they refused to upgrade us to First class so we are stuck in two different airports now.
The whole Delata experience has been a joke!
Fingers crossed that Delta step up and help with these costs as i would never have gone if i knew it would escalate like this. It was after all meant to be a money saving surprise holiday - well researched & well planned.0
