Has anyone got the Super-Cute Crochet book by Nicki Trench? I've made a couple of things from it, and decided to try making Cheryl the Snail. The head, body and tail are made all in one piece, starting with the tail:-
Make 2ch
Row 1: 1dc in second ch from hook
Row 2: 1 ch, 2dc in next stitch
Row 3: 1 ch, 2dc in each st (4 sts)
Row 4: 1 ch, 2dc in first st. 1dc in next 2 sts, 2dc in last st (6 sts)
Row 5: 1 ch, 1 dc in next 2 sts, 2dc in next st, 1dc in next 3 sts (7 sts)
So far so good (sorry about it going red - I can't change it back)
Round 1: 2dc in each st (14 sts)
How, I wonder, do you go from having a flat piece of crochet to suddenly doing it in the round?

Row #4 gives you 6 sts. You turn and work back the way you came to do Row #5 for 7 sts. After that row, do not turn - simply commence Rnd #1 into the former 1st st of Row #5 (the end of the row, furtherest from your hook) and work 2dc in each st.
Like... picture a flat piece of A4 and then picture curling it into a tube. The edge was straight and now it's circular.
You could also switch from rows to rounds by picking up stitches but doesn't appear to be the case here.0 -
Hi folks,
Lovely work on here.
I have not been on for a while as been more knitting that crochet, but when we were down at mums last week my sister commented on how she loved the blanket we'd made mum, and that she'd love a blue one, so here are the beginnings of it:
I showed her the colours, via her kids facebook, and she approved. Will be as big as I can be bothered/how much yarn- might be all blue round the outside as have more of that!Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

I'll give that a go. I've got a stinker of a cold today so can't be *rsed doing much (it's taken a lot of effort to check my e-mails :rotfl:). When I've tried it I'll report back, and if it results in a successful snail I'll post a pic. I've just about finished a mouse from the book so I'll post that (just need to sew a felt nose on, but as I say I can't be *rsed today)

Just a mum, following the animal theme I've found a lovely little elephant pattern I'm going to attempt for my new grandchild.
Also got some nice cheap wool today that I'm going to use for a granny squares throw.
If I manage it I will post the pattern, it looks fairly easy xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

I'm trying my hardest to learn but it's not coming naturally to me. I feel like I would do better with a hook with a sharp edge, all mine are very blunt. Do sharp hooks exist? Thanks in advance0
