Wow Glitterkitty, that's the level I am hoping to to get to someday, she says wistfully.:p
Krusty, I am rubbish at links but if you look in YouTube she is called the Crochet Geek and these are titled How to make a crochet coaster with shell edging. She is so easy to follow and has lots of very easy projects. I'm going to try a simple cardigan next for our new grandchild due in October.
I am also dying to make a chunky baby blanket, so shall start looking for some wool. happy Crocheting

I've only been crocheting for about 3 years, so I have no doubt you'll be fab very soon! I learned from reading crochet blogs and watching YouTube videos!

    Morning all,

I've got a problem and I'm sure you lovely ladies can help.
I want a simple but pretty blanket pattern for my new grand baby due in October.
I'm pretty much a beginner at crochet, I can make coasters though lol:rotfl: anyway when I have tried to do a blanket in simple single or double crochet it spends up sloping in on either side so I know I'm going wrong somewhere.
I would be ever so grateful if someone could point me in the direction of a simple straightforward. Easy blanket.
Bmma something like the blue one in your pic. Pretty please x

I think your problem with sloping edges may be because you are putting needle into and making last double crochet into the space on previous row, your final stitch should be made into the top of the last stitch which should keep your edges more even (sorry difficult to explain)
