In the last three years we have been inspired to take over £33,000 off our morgage. Our unachieved target was optimistic and also relied on us selling shares and paying off a big lump. We haven't done that for two reasons. Firstly our shares pooped they're pulling back and we are hoping they will keep doing so. Also at the beginning of this year we changed the mortgage and so stopped all overpayments as we are only paying 2.5% now. Mortgage is now £56,700 but we are planning on selling early in 2013 and buying a very much needed bigger house. Our mortgage will probably be around £200K then. I haven't joined the next challenge for this reason but hope to once we are settled.
Well done to all and good luck with your new challenges. All those who have achieved being MORTAGE FREE, enjoy!:):j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0 -
No 65 checking in at year end
We set the challenge of reducing our mortgage from £150k to £100k but got our heads down and absolutely smashed it, recording a final value today of £64,090.03!
During the challenge we managed to become 'mortgage neutral' in November.
Our final value doesn't truly represent our situation any more though as we took out a second mortgage when we moved in November and now owe £270k, and live in a house we could never have dreamed of in an area we love where we are already completely settled and so happy we feel we're living in a dreamland.
So bring on the next challenge, we've got a new mortgage to smack!
Thank you all for sharing your journeys and our journey.29/01/07 - Took on our first home for £225k, mortgage of £200,700, reduced to £70,224.44 in 6yrs

Hi
Posted a couple of days ago, hoping that the regular overpayment would come off in time for 12/12/12 and it has, so my final figure is £96,699 which is £3300 lower than originally hoped!
I am both delighted with what I have managed to achieve and absolutely AMAZED by what many of you have managed to achieve, so I am definitely on board for the next challenge.
Congratulations to us all

No 101 reporting in. My challenge was to reduce my mortgage from £44,790 to £33,500.
As of today my balance is... £33499.99! :j Woohoo! Target met!It has been a funny few years as I got made redundant half way through this challenge. Thankfully I managed to get a new job fairly quickly but it involved a ~20% pay cut so it has been much harder to keep remotely on target.
Well done everyone and thanks to FB for running this! I'm off to MFiT-3.;)Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

Hi all,
Last chart in this challenge due to be published tomorrow. I'd actually hope to be publishing it this evening, but time has escaped me this evening.
In case you have been under rock for the last six or so months, there's a third challenge and you're more than welcome to join in if you've not expressed an interest just yet.
I've a few PMs and both the MFiT-T2 and MFiT-T3 challenge updates to get through, so looks like tomorrow is going to be a busy day...
Never too late to get an update in if you have not done so already.
Thanks everyone!
