Hi all
Have not been popping in here, but now have a diary and pretty committed to all things MSE since the dawn of 2012 so thats helped a lot...its the discipline you know;)!!
Anyway for once I am updating pre the deadline - woo hoo!! Its not as much as I would hope but its going up (the overpayment pot!) and the mortgage is going down!! And..my sig now has the mortgage on it..after all I figure its all debt and I posted an SOA!!
So.. will post on googledocs but sig says it all..
Hope everyone is OK. Best of luck Captain Pie..we never regretted seeking help about 10 years ago. We celebrate our 15th anniversary later this year

Well okay, that's the edited version - 'cause gosh, do I go on with myself!
Thanks to a couple of bonuses I've managed to OP more than I expected to back then. I changed my target to a reduction of £20000 which means that by 12/12/12 I am aiming for a Mortgage bal of £25490.
My Current Bal is £28158 so unless something major happens I'm on target.
My SVR is about to increase which is a bit of a blow but at least I can cope relatively easily with this increase in minimum repayment mostly due to having OP'd in the past. If BOE doesn't go up by the end of the year and if I can repay at same monthly level I will come in just under my target balance. Very happy with that.
But you get a bit greedy don't you? You start looking at that balance and resenting the fact that its a £XX9,XXX instead of a £XX8,XXX and then you get naffed off when the balance is £XXX,110 instead of a £XXX,099, and then even that isn't good enough and £XXX,099 annoys you so much that you have to scrabble about to get it to £XXX,088 but then that means making an OP of £191 which is pointless - you may as well make it £200 but then you're at £XXX,079 which is just ridiculous as £XXX,050 is ulitmately the balance you want to see on your online account. And so on.
But reading the first post was good (so thanks for the suggestion BT) because it makes you realise that a) you can do it b) it does make a difference. It also made me realise what tremendous support and encouragement there is on this thread - thanks guys0 -
The very best of luck Captain Pie - worth every penny0

Me again
So next check-in date is 12/03/12, next Monday
I've OP'd my regular amount for March of £200 already. Can't spare anything else from my Current Account. I've got an old account with £8.76 sat in it so may attempt to close that this weekend (last time I tried I gave up after an hour and my parking was about to run out).
Had a sniff around my savings accounts and think I can spare £200 from over and above my planned spending forecast, so will transfer that.
Just checked my Quidco account incase any of those Tracks had magically turned into Confirmed......alas not.
Tonight I'm going to scrabble around the house tonight for any extra cash - piggy bank and see what I can bag up to take into the branch this weekend. Fingers crossed.
Anyone else got any last ditch attempts?0 -

Our overpaying endeavours will be on hold for a while now, as my wife and I are at breaking/crisis point in our marriage
We are receiving professional marriage counselling and it's costing a small fortune. Whilst I don't regret paying for the counselling - as long as it's useful for us - it certainly is hitting the bank balance!
Thank you to those who have offered well wishes, very kind and appreciated.
Well, here's another challenge, the timing of which couldn't really be any worse!
Had a meeting with my manager this morning who proceeded to tell me that my job is at risk, because the company need to restructure to stay afloat. Given my position in the team, it's certain that I am going to be made redundant in the next month or so.
I have the feeling that 2012 might be a year to forget somehow!Highest mortgage debt - £167k in Dec 2008
MFiT-T2 challenge - starting balance of £144875 in July 2011 - aiming for £130k by December 2012
Currently overpaying & hoping to be mortgage free by 20250 -
Blo@dy hell, that's carp. Best of luck with it all Captain
Well done on what you have achieved on the challenge so far. There is absolutely no shame in taking a break and diverting funds when needs mustMFiT-T4 Member No. 96 - 2022 is my MF goal

No 174 actually managing to update on time for once.
first post was very bland - reduce £43,400 to zero. Life and circumstances have got rather in the way and on plan A I'm way behind target. There is a plan B in formulation though.
I'll declare £20,500 (and send update by google Docs).
Congratulations to all on your OP's great or small and I have my fingers crossed all works out ok for you Captain Pie
