  • Ticking along really nicely now. The lifestyle changes we have made and now accept as the norm are remarkable. Very rarely is our weekly shop over £60 and that includes dinners for the week at work as well.

Juts had some pleasnig news in that i will be doing half a day university lecturing on my usual day off. This should bring in an extra £400 a month in term time which i thing we'll split 50//50 between mortgage and holiday funds. This extra cash will help take the pressure off saving for our holidays.
    MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......

    Thanks Billy!

Fuerteventura was great, returned on Sunday but had Monday off as did not want to start back so quickly, like a little buffer to get 'back to normal' :D

Weather was great, not too hot 30+° and we hired a car a couple of days to tour the island. Been there several times now so know what to expect, where to eat/drink etc.

    Jock.....

  • We've finally taken the plunge and swapped from interest only to repayment. I used the mortgage calculator on here to work out that we could now afford the monthly repayments plus some overpayments which should mean instead of paying the mortgage off in 15 years time we may be able to do it in less than ten. :j

We're aiming for an overpayment of at least £100 month but have to be flexible as DS16 will be starting to learn to drive after Christmas!

    Good luck everyone!

    Morning Folks,

It's surely not just me that gets properly frustrated at this time of month - been paid, money in the bank but until the "normal" mortgage payment goes out on the first of the month, I don't know exactly how much the overpayment for the month needs to be - I've got the patience of a 3-year old in Toys R Us!

Tell me I'm not nuts on my own over here.....

    Cheers,

    Your nuts :rotfl:(only jocking)

I like the end of the month as its when things happen, paid on ~25th, OP DD on 28th then normal mortgage payment on ~3rd. Its the 3 week void in between I hate!

My frustrations are earlier in the month when the SO overpayment of £250 leaves our current account and then takes a few days to arrive in the mortgage account. WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO IN BETWEEN????? Even though I can work out roughly what the balance will be with another £250 off, I still like to see it on the screen in front of me.

    Best wishes everyone
