Gentle PLEA to use Tesco codes sensibly

There were cases where people had a £10.00 off coupon with no minimum spend and used it for a £5.00 ish item then paid nothing for delivery.
This is what Lady K means by taking the mick0 -
Smartsaver, you beat me to it! I was just getting the quote!abijanzo wrote:These vouchers will only work with a minimum order of either £50, £75 or £100 anyway. So I dont understand what the issue is about people placing small value orders.
As Smartsaver says, there were some codes going about without a MOV (as I said before, I think they had been given out to say sorry for delivery problems over Christmas), and people were placing orders to total around £12 including delivery, getting something like a cake delivered, and paying £2 for it, after the £10 had been taken off. This is about the same time as Tesco have started to tighten up on the code system. Like it or not, that is taking the mick, especially as they weren't codes meant for all.0 -

Most people use the codes sensibly and I hope Tesco realise this! It would be great if Tesco sent codes to people who actually buy from them regularly (I have never had a code sent to me other than in a wine club posting). Even if they did free delivery on orders over a certain amount that would help, but they seem to be unwilling to do that.

I just wanted to say I have never been sent a code either apart from wine codes which I do not use. It seems that if you shop regular they don't send you any. I have always thought they should at least have free delivery days or free delivery if you spend over £50 or somethingThanx

I have only ever had 1 code sent direct to me, which was for a delivery which failed to turn up on 2 consecutive days. The code had no minimum value.
I would never consider posting a code like this because it was meant for me alone.
However, if I go into a store & pick up a leaflet with a code on, that code is therefore freely available to anyone and I see nothing wrong with posting it on MSE.
Unfortunately, some other members do not agree and reported me for doing this. They even got a board guide to remove it.
Martin's recent post confirms my belief that if a code is open to all then there is nothing wrong with posting it.
I almost always use points codes rather than money off because I see them as a better deal. I never spend less than £100 on an online shop, often double this, and so I do not see a problem with getting a little back.
Until I found out about the codes I always got my shopping online from Asda, so Tesco have done well out of me, just as I have done well out of them.
To be honest, Asda's delivery was always much better than I get from Tesco (less substitutions, etc) but the extra points keep me 'loyal' to Tesco. If the codes stopped, then I would have no hesitation in switching back to Asda.0 -
I do one shop a month, mainly at Tesco but last month with having no codes to use I went to Iceland & had it deleivered free that way instead.
I don't understand how some people can spend between £50 & £150 a week on shopping, mine's usually around £45-£60 for the whole month & that's only with stocking up on things like washing tablets, toilet rolls etc.
I have never used a code for less than £50 MOV & I've never used a code that wasn't specific in where it came from.
I prefer extra points rather than money off as I'm hoping to save up to take my DD (almost 7) on her first trip abroad to go to Disneyland Paris but if there is no codes for extra points then I won't be able to.
I use Tesco Online DVD Rental service & Powergen for Gas & Electric so get more points that way too which help.2025 - finally back comping after a stressful house move - send me fairy dust please0 -

I wish I could get away with spending so little! My online shops are done fortnightly, and come to easily £150 every time.
For a quick boost to your points you can sign up to Tesco home phone and use the code that was sent with the clubcard mailing (CC28). This is open to everyone and is worth 2000 extra point after you have been a customer for 3 months. (Worth £80 towards your Disneyland Paris trip.)0 -

I would love not to have to spend so much. Try feeding three huge, hungry, sports-mad boys and a husband for a week!!
Seriously, though, I really think it is in Tescos interest to offer free delivery above a certain amount - I will be thinking twice about having to pay delivery on top of what I already spend.0 -
I buy for myself, my hubby & DD. I have a friend's son for lunch once a week while she has a course & we usually entertain friends/family at least once a week so we're usually buying for at least 4/5 people when I go shopping & still keep my bills at last than £60, the only time it was almost £60 was when I bought DD's birthday cake & a few extras for in goody bags on top of normal shopping.
As for the Tesco Home Phone I don't think we'll be able to as we're not BT customer's we're with NTL which is a problem when trying to swop.2025 - finally back comping after a stressful house move - send me fairy dust please0 -
I didnt realise people were using no mov vouchers - infact I didnt even realise these existed. I agree it's a bit daft to abuse these if they have been given to make up for bad service and I apologise then for my lack of understanding - thanks for taking the time to clear it up people0

Sorry but I've got to ask, did you really mean £45-£65 a month or a week?0
