Are you you using the 'PhoneBank' service or just a general number to contact Lloyds [...]?
24/7 Banking services (0500) 179050, which should be the same as (0845) 3000 000 according to https://www.saynoto0870.com. It took me to their telephone banking service.

Further to my failed attempts to send FP from LLoyds,
today I wanted to send £10,000+ via BACS

Can't do it on internet banking
Can't do it on Telephone Banking

The advisor on the phone said go into a branch and they can set up the BACS for you.

In branch it was, "No we can't do that"

so I conceded defeat, I'd had enough running around, and ended up with a CHAPS transfer. Again, grrrr

I've had 20+ years of good service from Lloyds, but over this last year or so it seems like they've never managed to get anything right, or they've continually had different people/departments giving different information.

I know that online FP don't work for Lloyds, so used the telephone banking number. Wanted to send £1200 last week, the woman tried, didn't work, then recommended trying a smaller amount of £500, it still wouldn't allow, checked with a supervisor who said the FP were basically off the menu temporarily due to a technical hitch!!! It was not essential to use FP at that point, but would have been preferable.

On Thursday night (16th April), someone set up a £75 online payment from TSB Scotland to my Egg savings account to be paid ASAP. It arrived on Friday. So it must have gone via FP.

TSB displayed the usual message "Please allow three to four working days for payments to reach the payee ..."

I wonder whether it would have gone out on the same day had it been paid before cut-off time.

I managed 1 on-line FP from LLoyds ( unexpectedly and unanounced) in I think August 08 - nothing since. When I queried I was told it was available via phone banking. When I tried - was told that Xfer of a only few hundred pound was permitted and the actual limit seemed variable - Phone banking could not tell me what it was but it appeared that it could be set on an individual basis and the only way to find your limit was to "suck it and see"

And yes in my opinion Lloyds on-line service is incompetent. The inability to stack future transactions once you have hit the 10k limit; the fact that "today" changes to tomorrow in in line with their BACS processing times (10pm on weekdays 3pm on Sundays) not when the day actually changes; and the inability to make same day payments means for instance that trying to move say 30K from LLoyds takes about 1.5 weeks, with NW which does have FP it takes 3 days.

It would appear though that the system does not tell you whether it goes via FP BEFORE you press submit.

The online system seems to display "Please allow three to four working days" regardless.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I sent £5 on Friday which seems to have gone to Halifax as a FP as arrived same day.

When they originally introduced it when you hit submit a new page with a progress clock appeared.

I make a regular transfer of £600 and that does not go FP so I'm wondering if there is now a very small limit set for on-line FP transactions

    ARRRRRRRRRRGH!!!!!!

Right, thats that out the way!

I am so frustrated with LTSB! I've not been able to send a single FP online since I opened my account with them back in August last year. Even when I telephone to do it, it's 50/50 whether it goes through or not. I have just phoned through to transfer £400 to my main Halifax acct for my rent, and of course, sod's law the FP system is down...again! Well, it is from Lloyd's end anyway (funnily enough, Halifax and Barclays has always worked for me, without fail). She said it will go through via BACS tomorrow, but am hoping the FPs will be back on in the morning.

I am now convinced this is a problem with Lloyds rather than the FP system. It's been running for a year now. Sort it out!

It is a problem with Lloyds TSB, they pulled the ability to make Faster Payments through Online Banking last year around August. I would imagine it is a security issue, seeing the system was working for a very short time.

If it is technical then what a mamouth glitch, but as I said, I suspect they're trying to iron out potential security risks.

After all, it is risky business sending money to any other UK bank in an instant. So risky in fact that they are one of the last Big Four to offer Faster Payments via Online Banking, ha, what a joke.

Perhaps a functioning Online Faster Payments System is something good Lloyds TSB will inherit from Halifax Bank of Scotland. Should start to make up for the £10.8bn loss. ;)
Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.
