If it had been a reality prog I wouldn't bother watching it; I was totally put off by the edwardian house or something similar where people volunteered as house servants and then spent most of their time either complaining about the hard work or just not doing it!
This series promises to be interesting, informative and fun; all three of them are so eager to make it a success. Not watched anything like this before so not sure, but are they likely to make some information available online - recipes etc?
Maybe there will be a bookoh dear, I see my NYR not to buy books is likely to fail........

I really enjoyed it and I am also glad it is not a reality programme. While watching it, though, I was wondering "one bedroom, one woman and two blokes..." and was puzzled because I thought that Victorian morals would not have permitted such situation, which would have been seen as scandalous.
It is only when they said that the people actually live elsewhere on the estate that it made more sense.
Hats off to Ruth for wanting to spend a night all alone in that cottage, I would have been a bit scared (being a total townie and not used to being alone at night in the countryside)!
Really looking forward to the next instalment now! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Wartime Summer/Autumn/Winter/Spring are shown regularly on Horse and Country channel Sky 280Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -

I never heard of that site and would have paid £20 on amazon because I MUST HAVE THIS BOOK !!
Caterina, I'm a complete countrywoman and scared stiff in towns, but I wouldn't have spent a night in that cottage under those big roof beams ...god know what's living in them !!
