I noticed the wheat/barley thing too - school boy error or what?
Gerat gentle viewing though.
More BBC! More! Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
I enjoyed the programme but it still doesn't rivwl my all time facourite, the victorian Kitchen Garden. The gardener in it (I think his name was Harry Dodds) had worked as a gardener in the twenties, using traditional Victorian methods and the programme went through the year showing what was done. Well worth looking out for on DCD, they followed it up with the Victorian Kitchen where Harry supplied the fruit and veg for the cook (again someone who had worked as a cook in a country house).0

I watched the repeat last night. Maybe nit-picking but shouldn't the bricks be put in the bed at least before you get undressed for full effect?0

They probably should, but a very long time ago  I used to use one of the stone waterbottles and just used to take it up with me at bedtime. Perhaps the upstairs were so cold we didn't want to venture up there until we had to!0 -
I think i'm right in thinking that the second episode is on telly tonight at 9pm on BBC2. Just wanted to remind you all!
Sadly though i rarely sit down to watch tv, last Thursday night when i did sit down to watch this programme, the tv decided to turn itself off and wouldn't come back on again all night. When i tried later it just snowed on the screen
...fortunately the tv is now over its funny fit and is working again so this time i won't have to watch it on Iplayer...it kept buffering every few seconds and i could hardly bear to watch it as there were so many interuptions watching the first part online.
I really enjoyed the bits i did see though so i'm looking forward to watching the second part tonight... all being well.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Did you watch online? Usually with the download to computer option it is much better quality as there is no buffering (although if you have a slow connection it may take a while to download before you can play it).
Oddly I can download iplayer programmes in about 10 minutes but 4OD ones take forever.."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

That must have been what i did wrong then! I did watch it online instead of downloading. Thanks for the tip:TGrocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

I was exhausted after watching Ruth do the washing  but it was an interesting point that they only used chemicals where they were really needed, ie direct onto the stains. it also quite an eye opener to see what they used for stain removal. I love this series.... don't throw the string away. You always need string!
