Got turned away at Gateshead Odeon for Bride-wars yesterday. I thought with seefilmfirst they only gave out enough tickets to fill the screen?

Also of all the films I expected to be full Bride Wars was not it! I'm sure there will be other films so never mind.

Yeah I was at the screening and thought it was rather full for once - I knew someone I worked with had tickets but got stuck at work and did not use but I couldn;t see where they would have got seats if had gone.

Bit worrying that could travel through and not get in now. Is it they are giving out more tickets or are people printing more than one copy ut or changing the names on printouts so when only got 2 tickets but actually using more.

The first time I have ever been asked for ID too on entering.

I have commented on this on the previous page - they generally over issue the tickets slightly and all are on a first come first serve basis.

This is the blurb from See Film First:

    Allocation of tickets

All tickets are supplied in good faith and SeeFilmFirst cannot be held responsible for any changes or cancellation in screening times. Tickets are supplied on a first come, first served basis. Whilst all efforts are made to ensure tickets are allocated to capacity, in the event that there is overbooking, for whatever reason, any alternative ticket allocation is entirely at the discretion of SeeFilmFirst or the cinema manager. No guaranteed compensation is offered. Tickets are supplied for use of applicant and guest only. Tickets are non transferable.

The best way to avoid it being a problem is to make sure you get there early!

  • Well, I'm well and truly confused now! I'm sure you're all trying to be helpful, and I can tell what a "thread" is from how it works, but what's a "sticky" and how do they differ? I've never come across either term before. I do subscribe to the daily e-mail - but there still aren't any more free tickets for "Milk" when I can go - couldn't tonight and didn't even try collecting "Telegraph" coupons for tomorrow night. Before others berate me, I know it's still a good offer, but it's a real pain (not to mention not very green) to have to make a special, advance trip to the cinema to try to exchange coupons for tickets.

Sorry I slightly misunderstood your reply to Ms Thrifty.

Given what Ms Thrifty said I'm guessing she doesn't know about Quick Links and her subscribed threads (automatically achieving this by making a post or by manually requesting it) and how easy it is to find a thread once you've done this. It appears re-searching threads again & again is her method of locating her "old" threads.

Obviously finding a new one you've never seen before can only be done like this UNLESS someone else tells you about it - ie. a link in another thread.

I agree the first post in the CODES ONLY needs updating to reflect a NEW DISCUSSION thread if it hasn't (hopefully keeping the old link for "references purposes")
However finding the NEW thread is not exactly too difficult given that when heatherw_01 created it, she did (as always) made the LAST POST in the OLD thread a LINK TO THE NEW ONE before closing it.

I now see that your comment about making this thread a sticky and easier to find was an attempt to make it more visible to those that don't know about it BUT do find the Codes Only (because of its "greater prominence") and post discussion/questions there. Making this a sticky might reduce this "misuse" frequency but I doubt by very much, sadly a lot of people don't care and others are just too lazy.

Hopefully my last post may be of use to Ms Thrifty and others in finding previous posts of note

    962903 doesn't work for me.
The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.

Can we please keep this for codes only, Like it says in the title!!!!
Never argue with a fool, they will lower you to their level and then beat you with experience.........!!!:rotfl::T
  • Just a change of topic slightly......we missed the Sun newspaper on Saturday and really, really wanted to see the new Disney film. Asked on Freecycle if anyone had a spare copy (this was on Sunday) and hey presto....got a voucher and managed to get to the cinema and was extremely lucky to get 10 tickets

There's a group of us going, so this is fab. When we went this morning to pick them up they still had a fair few left, and said they were showing it on two screens at our local Odeon :T
Can't wait til tomorrow, I know the children are really really looking forward to it as well!

Moral of my story......if you forget to get a paper, try Freecycle....and don't be shy in asking for more tickets....they can say no...or they can say yes
  • Went to Manchester Printworks, totally packed and at least 18 people waiting for the manager to tell thenm it was "first come for served"! Shame really, sounds like a great film. Will try to get there not so late next time:confused:

I was at Printworks for Milk tonight, first time I have ever seen this happen. I always make sure I get there at least 15 minutes before the start time as I like to get a good seat. Last couple of screenings I have been to at Printworks have been fuller than usual, maybe more people are actually turning up for the screenings or they are releasing more tickets to make sure they are full.

Milk was a good film 8/10 Sean Penn was very good, sorry you didnt get in.
