They're relying on most people using no where near that amount. I doubt the company would survive if everyone used 1TB. Most businesses online don't use 1TB in b/w, its just a large figure to make you drool ... and a large figure it is.

Infact if you look hard enough there are plenty of hosts offering unlimited bandwidth. They tend to a) close down within a year or b) have a nice fair useage policy hidden somewhere on their site and reserve the right to close you down.

I got 30 mates regularly checking my site, it has some multimedia and downloads but not a lot ..... and i can hardly break 1000MB.

    Hi there,
Very interested in using www.jamroll.co.uk for hosting.

Just wondered if anyone can confirm that the all the features mentioned on the features page ( http://www.jamroll.co.uk/?page=features ) are actually included for free? or are some 'addons'?

    Thanks

    Simon

123reg.co.uk , owned by pipex. They were the cheapest but now they are one of the cheapest.

They however have a very good/clear domain management system, others may have some functions missing.

Yeah no snow down here yet.

Just been looking, 1&1 appear the cheapest at £2.34 for .co.uk, and it quite clearly says about being able to point your domain to other servers. (this needs to be done to use Jamroll).

I think I am getting myself a bit muddled up here, please confirm a few points for me:

If I sign up through 1&1 for a domain name, would it be best to get just the domain name or get their 'mail package' & 81p per month? which I guess gives you all the pop accounts etc
I would like to be able to send emails from my domain name.

I cant get my head round who would be running my email servers etc.

Jamroll says it offers 30 email addresses but are they forwards to another address?

If I just get a domain name how will the emails be handled?

Any help for my muddled up brain would be appreciated.

You can get jamroll to sort out the email for you, no problem. A quote from the jamroll forums. A member posted:
You can do POP3 with the emails or you can use web mail either way, POP3 will most likley be setup as mail.yourdomainname.com you can also set it up to use hotmail with your domain name, but instead of logging on directly to the domain you will log on to hotmail and your email address will still have @yourdomain.com but you will have yo set up your account first and then let them know that you want to use hotmail and they can set it up for you do do so. the link to the hotmail address thing is https://domains.live.com/Signup/SignupDomain.aspx

He has provided a good alternative for you too.
